GENERAL DESCRIPTION
We are looking for a motivated Junior Java Developer to join our dynamic team at a leading financial institution.

The developer shall be part of the global CoE Software Solutions team within GPS Technology based in Singapore.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone with a passion for back-end development, a strong desire to learn, and a foundational knowledge in core Java development, with experience in Spring/Spring Boot.

You will work closely with team members based in both Singapore and Zurich to help develop, maintain, and enhance our financial platforms and applications, ensuring high performance, security, and scalability.

Working in an agile environment and interacting with traders, business owners and other stakeholders, you will capture new requirements, design innovative solutions, and implement them.

As part of the global team and working on global applications, you will also provide first class support to the business and other stakeholders when called on.

Note: This is a 12 months contract role with an external agency payroll provider.

YOUR CHALLENGE

Key Features and Accountabilities

Business Management

  • Work to fulfil the ambitions of the team defined by Head of CoE Software Solutions
  • Actively participate and support the head of the team to regularly review and improve team practices to optimise efficiency and productivity
  • Continuously drive and improve systems
  • Stakeholder Management

  • Effective and progressive management of all stakeholders and users of applications supported by the team
  • Solicit and discuss requirements and solutions with business owners and stakeholders
  • Provide regular updates to key stakeholders through the various channels used by the team
  • Change Management

  • Actively participate and support Program Increment (PI) planning process within Markets
  • Support change management and release rollout planning
  • Provide dedicated post implementation support locally in Asia
  • Regulatory Responsibilities and Risk Management

  • Demonstration of appropriate values and behaviours including but not limited to standards on honesty and integrity, due care and diligence, fair dealing (treating customers fairly), management of conflicts of interest, competence and continuous development, adequate risk management, and compliance with applicable laws and regulations
  • Design and Development

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design, develop, and implement high-quality software solutions for our financial products and services
  • Frontend Development

  • Develop and maintain backend services and APIs using Java, Spring, and Spring Boot
  • Optimize server-side performance and ensure data integrity and security
  • Code Quality and Best Practices

  • Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code while adhering to industry best practices, including code reviews, testing, and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
  • Troubleshooting and Support

  • Diagnose and resolve frontend issues, providing support for both development and production environments

  • Basic understanding of Unix Operating system and bash scripting
