Advisor, Data Migration (2 years contract)
Job Purpose
To Lead the end-to-end data migration process for the ERP/EPM implementation.
This role is responsible for ensuring accurate, complete, and timely extraction, cleansing, transformation, and loading master and transactional data from legacy SAP system into the new target platform.
The consultant will act as the technical expert, ensuring data integrity and quality throughout the migration lifecycle, thereby de-risking the data migration during implementation and ensuring a smooth go-live while ensuring business continuity.
Strategic Planning and Alignment
- Execute APLLs Data Migration Strategy and Lead the execution of the Data Migration Work Plan.
- Collaboratively define the Single Source of Truth for all the different Data domains that have been identified to be part of the ERP and EPM Implementation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders and Data Governance Council to define data standards, quality rules, and acceptance criteria.
- Perform in-depth data profiling and analysis on source systems to assess data quality, identify issues & perform data cleansing activities.
Design & Execution
- Create detailed source-to-target mapping documents for all data objects (e.g., Customer, Vendor, Chart of Accounts).
- Design and document all data transformation, cleansing, and validation rules.
- Develop, test, execute automated scripts for data extraction, transformation and cleansing.
- Lead the data cleansing effort to remediate duplicates, errors, and inconsistencies.
Validation & Quality Assurance
- Conduct multiple mock migration cycles to validate the process and data integrity.
- Perform reconciliation checks to ensure 100% data completeness and accuracy between source and target systems.
- Prepare and present data quality reports and migration status updates to project leadership.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate data risks to ensure projects remain on track and within scope.
Qualification
- BA’s degree in computer science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field is required.
- Relevant certifications in data management, data migration for specific ERP platforms (e.g., SAP, Workday Finance & Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO).
Experience
- 8-10 years of hands‑on experience in a dedicated data migration role.
- Proven experience leading data migration for at least two full‑lifecycle ERP implementations (e.g., SAP, Workday Finance, Microsoft D365 FO).
- Direct experience with legacy system data extraction, including managing data from mainframe systems (e.g., COBOL files, packed decimals, VSAM).
- Experience working in complex organizational environments, managing multiple stakeholders, and adhering to strict project timelines.
Skills
- Data Migration Tools & Techniques: Experience with ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) tools, SAP Migration Cockpit, LSMW, and Workday EIB (Enterprise Interface Builder), Workday Studio, and other integration tools.
- Data Mapping & Transformation: Ability to map data fields between SAP and Workday / Microsoft Dynamics 365 FO, including understanding of both systems’ data models and structures.
- Data Quality & Cleansing: Skills in identifying, analyzing, and resolving data quality issues to ensure accuracy and completeness during migration.
- Testing & Validation: Conducting thorough testing (unit, integration, user acceptance) to validate migrated data and processes.
- SQL & Scripting: Proficiency in SQL and scripting languages for data extraction, manipulation, and validation.
- Business Process Mapping: Ability to analyze and map business processes from SAP to Workday, ensuring functional alignment and process optimization.
Ability to understand and map complex business processes to data entities.
