AI Singapore (AISG) is a national AI programme launched by the National Research Foundation (NRF) to anchor deep national capabilities in Artificial Intelligence (AI).

The programme office is hosted by the National University of Singapore (NUS) and brings together all Singapore-based research institutions and the vibrant ecosystem of AI start-ups and companies developing AI products to perform use-inspired research, grow the knowledge, create the tools, and develop the talent to power Singapore's AI efforts.

The AI Apprenticeship Programme (AIAP), which is a flagship programme launched by AISG, aims to groom local AI talent and enhance their career with AI-related skills.

Apprentices in the programme will first undergo 2 months of deep-skilling, followed by 6 months of executing real-world projects.

Since its launch, there have been 18 batches of apprentices who have embarked on this award-winning programme.

The AI Engineer hub (AIEH) team is looking for a driven AI Engineer to be instrumental in executing our programmes as well as leading AI-based projects for both internal and external stakeholders.

This role will also spearhead innovative initiatives, including the development of cutting-edge AI technologies.

You will join a passionate team dedicated to nurturing AI talent and play a key part in driving the growth of Singapore's AI sector.

The AI Engineer will also help to mentor AIAP apprentices by guiding their real world projects, scoping industry-relevant initiatives, and providing technical mentorship on cutting-edge AI technologies.

Beyond mentoring, the role involves contributing to internal AI development projects and innovative technology implementations.

The successful candidate will collaborate with external partners to identify meaningful project opportunities while balancing development work with talent nurturing responsibilities, playing a key role in strengthening Singapore's AI ecosystem.

Duties and Responsibilities

1. Drive and work on the tasks stemming from AIEH industry partnership projects and other AIAP-related programmes.
   
   
2. Lead end-to-end solution development for industry AI projects, from scoping to deployment and maintenance.
   
   
3. Train and mentor AI apprentices during the Deep-skilling and Project phase, and other umbrella programmes.
   
   
4. Collaborate with industry partners to identify, scope, and define project requirements and deliverables.
   
   
5. Conduct technical assessments and feasibility studies for potential industry collaborations.
   
   
6. Participate, prepare and execute the AIAP recruitment stages.
   
   
7. Support AI Singapore's industry and community-building activities by contributing to talks, seminars, workshops, journals and other outreach programmes.
   
   

Qualifications

We welcome applicants from all disciplines and qualifications — including NITEC, Diploma, and Degree holders — who can demonstrate the following skills

• End-to-End Project Delivery: Have a strong portfolio of AI/ML project(s) that showcases ability to deliver solutions from scoping and data analysis through to deployment and documentation.
  
  
• Applied Machine Learning: Possess deep, practical knowledge of machine learning fundamentals, with proven experience applying algorithms to solve problems in areas like NLP, Computer Vision, or on tabular data
• Generative AI & LLMs: Hands-on experience developing LLM-powered applications, including Prompt Engineering, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), and fine-tuning using modern frameworks.
  
  
• Software Engineering Excellence: Demonstrates expert-level Python skills and a strong commitment to Software Engineering best practices, writing code that is clean, modular, and maintainable.
  
  
• MLOps & Cloud Proficiency: Fluent in the essential MLOps toolkit, including Git, Docker, and CI/CD principles.
  
  Have experience building data and model pipelines on at least one major cloud platform (AWS, Azure, or GCP).
  
  
• Passionate Mentor: Eager to guide and develop the next generation of AI talent, contributing to AISG Innovation's collaborative and supportive team culture.
  
  
• Excellent Communicator: Can articulate complex technical ideas to both technical and non-technical audiences with clarity and confidence.
  
  
• Lifelong Learner: Possess a strong sense of curiosity and are driven to stay current in the fast-evolving world of artificial intelligence.
