NIE invites suitable candidates to join the Division of Academic Computing & Information Services (ACIS) as an Analyst Programmer / Systems Analyst.

The successful candidate will join a dynamic team that underpins NIE's digital transformation initiatives in education.

While this role is focused on application development and system support, it also contributes to the broader ambitions of NIE's Technology Roadmap for the Future of Education (TRFE), enabling innovation, digital fluency, and the intelligent use of AI to support learning, teaching, and research.

The candidate will be a part of a forward-thinking team that is committed to delivering innovative digital solutions in the education sector.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, test, and implement application systems based on user requirements and project timelines.

  • Find opportunities to design and implement AI-driven features that enhance and personalize the student digital experience.

  • Explore and propose innovative ways to modernize NIE's student information systems by leveraging the latest technology stacks and AI-assisted development methodologies.

  • Maintain and enhance existing in-house applications to ensure optimal performance and user experience.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional IT teams for system deployment and integration.

  • Ensure high standards of code quality, test coverage, and participate actively in code reviews.

  • Troubleshoot, debug, and upgrade applications as needed.

  • Independently manage IT projects from initiation to completion.

  • Ensure compliance with NIE's Data Governance, IT Audit, and Security policies and standards.

Requirements

  • A University degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering or a related discipline.

  • Minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in software development and IT project management.

  • Sound understanding of student and examination-related business processes.

  • Familiarity with the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC) and Agile methodologies.

  • Proficiency in .Net programming.

  • Experience in GitHub Copilot
  • Experience in system integration via APIs and database layers.

  • Experience with relational databases and ORM frameworks (e.g. Hibernate).

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to adapt quickly to new technologies.

  • Effective team player with a proactive attitude and the ability to meet tight deadlines.

  • Possessing the following skillsets will give the applicant an added advantage:

  • Jira for Project Management

  • AI-Driven Automation
  • Data Analytics tools such as Power BI
  • Low-code development platforms (e.g. Power Apps)
