We are seeking a skilled Architectural Engineer to support our dynamic minor demolition and residential/commercial renovation projects in various places and under various contractors, building owners, managing agents, and companies.
This role is more hectic in work coordination, architectural design preparation and review, and technical supervision of retrofit, remodeling, and alteration works.
You will be responsible for preparing and coordinating design and construction documents, supervising on-site architectural works, and ensuring all design elements comply with safety, code, and performance standards.
You will work closely with project stakeholders to ensure seamless integration between new and existing building components.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre-Demolition & Planning Phase:
- Conduct site assessments and review existing as-built drawings to determine demolition scope and retained structures.
- Prepare demolition drawings to indicate elements to be removed, preserved, or protected.
- Coordinate with structural engineers to ensure safe removal of load-bearing elements.
- Prepare and submit permit drawings and technical documentation in compliance with local building codes, WSH regulations, and environmental guidelines.
- Demolition Execution Support to supervise demolition activities to ensure alignment with approved design and safety procedures.
- Design and monitor temporary works such as hoardings, access scaffolds, and debris containment systems.
- Document and update drawings to reflect as-demolished conditions for use in the renovation planning.
Renovation Design & Coordination:
- Develop creative and code-compliant renovation concepts that integrate with existing structures.
- Produce detailed architectural drawings, 3D models, and visualization materials for client presentations and contractor reference.
- Propose a possible and adaptive reuse of salvaged materials where applicable.
- Ensure renovation designs meet accessibility standards, energy efficiency goals, and sustainability requirements.
Construction & Supervision:
- Supervise architectural works on-site, ensuring workmanship complies with approved designs and technical specifications.
- Coordinate construction work schedules in alignment with the project timeline and phasing.
- Review subcontractor method statements, risk assessments, and quality submissions.
- Interpret construction drawings and provide guidance to site teams and contractors.
Stakeholder Communication:
- Liaise with clients, consultants, authorities, and contractors to resolve design and construction-related issues.
- Participate in coordination meetings and provide architectural input during safety and planning briefings.
- Track drawing submissions, approvals, material compliance, and site instructions.
Quality & Documentation:
- Conduct site inspections to ensure quality and compliance with design intent.
- Maintain records of design changes, approvals, and construction updates.
- Review subcontractor performance and support handover documentation.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical and Civil) or a related field.
- Minimum 3–5 years of relevant experience in architectural design and site supervision.
- Previous exposure to demolition and disposal related, retrofit works, and building renovation A&A projects in residential and commercial buildings is preferred.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, SketchUp, and other MEP and/or architectural design software.
- Willing to learn sustainable building practices and green mark certification processes.
- Able to handle the building codes and electrical load calculations and designs, demolition safety standards and renovation guidelines.
- Strong understanding of construction sequencing, method statements preparation and temporary works design.
- Strong problem-solving and coordination skills with all construction workers and specialist trade workers at site continuously.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively in fast-paced renovation environments.
