Job Purpose
We are seeking a dedicated and proactive Assistant Engineer to provide frontline technical support.
The role involves attending to emergency breakdowns, responding to technical calls, and supporting the engineering team in ensuring minimal downtime and maximum customer satisfaction.
This role is critical in supporting 24/7 operations, with specific standby responsibilities during off-peak hours ( 9:00 PM – 6:30 AM ).
Key Responsibilities
- Attend and troubleshoot emergency breakdowns promptly to minimize equipment or vehicle downtime.
- Respond to technical calls and provide timely advice, solutions, or escalation where necessary.
- Assist in diagnosing faults and carrying out corrective actions in line with standard operating procedures (SOPs).
- Document breakdown cases, technical calls, and corrective measures taken for reporting and follow-up.
- Coordinate with vendors, suppliers, or internal departments when additional resources are required.
- Ensure compliance with workplace safety, quality standards, and company policies.
- Be on standby during off-peak hours (9:00 PM – 6:30 AM) , as rostered (Tue – Saturday / Sun – Thur).
- Upon activation, arrive at the appointed breakdown site within 1 hour .
- Ensure readiness with tools, equipment, and PPE for immediate response.
- Perform any other engineering-related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Diploma in Mechanical, Electrical, Automotive, or related Engineering field.
- Minimum 1–2 years of relevant working experience (fresh graduates with strong technical aptitude are welcome).
- Knowledge of troubleshooting techniques, equipment diagnostics, or automotive/electrical systems preferred.
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work under pressure during emergencies.
- Good communication skills to handle technical calls and liaise with internal and external stakeholders.
- Willingness to work shifts, weekends, or be on standby for emergency call-outs.
- Possession of a valid Class 3 driving license is an advantage.
