Assistant Engineer, Train Maintenance (CCL)
Job Purpose
The Assistant Engineer, Train Maintenance is responsible for performing preventive, corrective, and overhaul maintenance of Circle Line trains, fault attendance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, upgrading, and improvement works/repairs of Passenger Vehicles (PV) and Plant Equipment.
Responsibilities
The duties and responsibilities of an Assistant Engineer, Train Maintenance include, but are not limited to:
- Planning and supervising work carried out by team members.
- Planning team duty rosters in consultation with the supervisor.
- Disseminating instructions and procedures issued by supervisors to team members.
- Executing preventive and corrective maintenance, overhaul maintenance, fault attendance, fault diagnosis, troubleshooting, upgrading, and repair works of PV and Plant Equipment.
- Leading the team in general care and housekeeping of PV.
- Assisting supervisors in engineering analysis and investigations on incidents/accidents.
- Raising and reviewing corrective maintenance job orders.
- Recording all faults, completing work orders, and inputting data into the maintenance management system.
- Performing other incidental or ancillary tasks, such as attending to mainline emergency incidents.
- Certifying work carried out by contractors (e.g., train cleaning, pest control, train advertising).
- Performing staff functions like certification of machinery, leave applications, and claims.
- Driving company vehicles or equipment as required, if qualified.
- Working at heights, climbing staircases and ladders, and handling heavy machinery or tools.
- Working in rotating shifts, including day and night shifts.
- Working in sheltered and non-sheltered areas within SMRT Depots.
- Responding to operational emergencies and ensuring safety compliance.
- Upholding the safety mission and principles of the Circle Line team.
Qualifications & Work Experience
- Diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from a recognized institution.
- Preferably at least 1 year of relevant maintenance and troubleshooting experience.
- Ability to perform rotating shift work.
- Ability to work at heights (preferably).
