Assistant Superintendent / Assistant Head of Operation - Welfare Home / Social Service
Job Summary
The Assistant Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the effective and lawful operation of a welfare home, ensuring the well-being of residents and compliance with relevant laws and regulations.
The role involves managing staff, maintaining facility standards, and implementing programs for resident care.
Job Responsibilities:
Welfare Home Oversight
- Ensure residents receive proper attention and support in accordance with the Destitute Persons Act and MSF regulations.
- Maintain cleanliness and compliance with standards set by relevant authorities.
Legal Compliance
- Supervise all aspects of the welfare home, ensuring compliance with Destitute Persons Act and Rules.
Food Safety and Hygiene
- Ensure strict adherence to Food Safety and Hygiene Guidelines on food hygiene practices.
Personnel Management
- Allocate duties to staff and ensuring understanding of responsibilities.
- Conduct staff development activities and performance evaluations.
Programs and Services
- Evaluate and enhance the quality and relevance of home programs and services.
- Facilitate outside employment opportunities for residents and organize diversionary activities.
Financial Governance
- Ensure compliance with Service Standards Requirements Guidelines, including financial governance.
- Prepare budgets and monitor cash flow according to established policies.
Board of Visitors:
- Implement recommendations from the Board of Visitors to the extent possible.
Additional Duties:
- Perform duties assigned by the Chief Executive Officer and the Welfare Homes Management Committee.
- Participate in planning and implementing work plans.
Job Requirements
- Minimum degree, preferably in social work or psychology, or relevant working experience in the social service sector with administration skills.
- Ability to commit to weekend and evening meetings when required.
