Role Overview
An Assistant Manager (Mechanical) supports the Mechanical/Engineering Manager in overseeing the design, operation, maintenance, and improvement of mechanical systems, machinery, or facilities.
The role bridges hands-on technical work and managerial responsibilities, ensuring smooth operations while guiding a team.
Key Responsibilities
Operations & Maintenance
Supervise day-to-day operation and maintenance of mechanical equipment (e.g., HVAC, pumps, boilers, production machinery).
Ensure minimal downtime through preventive and corrective maintenance.
Project Management
Assist in planning, scheduling, and executing mechanical projects or upgrades.
Coordinate with contractors, suppliers, and internal teams.
Monitor progress, quality, and safety compliance.
Team Supervision
Lead and guide a team of technicians/engineers.
Assign tasks, monitor performance, and provide training where needed.
Support manpower planning and shift scheduling.
Compliance & Safety
Ensure all mechanical systems comply with statutory regulations, codes, and workplace safety standards.
Conduct regular safety inspections and audits.
Budget & Cost Control
Assist in preparing budgets for maintenance, spare parts, and projects.
Monitor expenses and suggest cost-saving measures.
Reporting & Documentation
Prepare maintenance schedules, work reports, and incident logs.
Keep updated records of equipment history and compliance documents.
Requirement
Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or related field
Minimum 6 years of progressive leadership experience related industries.
Strong knowledge of mechanical systems, maintenance practices, and troubleshooting.
Good communication skills (to liaise between technical staff and management).
Familiarity with safety regulations and risk management.
