Position Overview

As part of our international growth strategy, we are looking for a dynamic and committed individual to join our Procurement Team.
This role is a key contributor to our supply chain success and business growth.
You will be responsible for leading procurement operations, ensuring the consistent and cost-effective supply of goods and services, and supporting company-wide initiatives through strategic sourcing and supplier collaboration.
You will also play a critical role in driving efficiencies, managing supplier relationships, optimizing inventory, and coaching team members, all while embodying the Johnsonville culture of ownership, teamwork, and member engagement.
Key Responsibilities
Procurement Strategy & Execution
- Manage end-to-end purchasing activities across all categories – retail, food service, and branded distribution items.
- Develop and execute sourcing strategies aligned with company goals for cost, quality, and delivery.
- Lead negotiations with suppliers to drive cost savings, favorable terms, and long-term partnerships.
- Conduct periodic market analysis to stay informed of industry trends and price movements.
Supplier Management
- Maintain strong, professional relationships with existing suppliers while continuously identifying and qualifying new vendors.
- Evaluate supplier performance based on quality, cost, delivery, and responsiveness.
- Resolve supplier performance issues and disputes in a timely and professional manner.
- Ensure suppliers comply with company standards and regulatory requirements.
Inventory & Cost Optimization
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders (Sales, Operations, Finance, etc.) to forecast demand and align procurement accordingly.
- Optimize inventory levels to reduce holding costs while preventing stockouts.
- Conduct regular cost and spend analysis; identify savings opportunities and implement corrective actions.
- Recommend and implement best practices for continuous improvement in procurement processes.
Risk Management & Compliance
- Identify potential supply chain risks and implement mitigation strategies.
- Work closely with Legal to review contracts and ensure terms are commercially sound and legally compliant.
- Ensure adherence to internal procurement policies and standard operating procedures.
Team Management & Project Leadership
- Supervise, coach, and mentor junior members of the procurement team.
- Delegate tasks effectively and ensure accountability within the team.
- Lead or support cross-functional projects related to new product launches, cost optimization, and process improvements.
- Assist the Head of Procurement with assigned projects and act as a backup in operational matters when required.
Requirements
- Minimum 8–10 years of procurement experience, preferably within FMCG or the food industry.
- Strong understanding of meat and dairy sourcing is highly desirable.
- Solid experience in supplier negotiation, contract management, and procurement best practices.
- Proficient in import documentation and international sourcing (preferred).
- Strong analytical skills with a results-driven mindset.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to collaborate across departments.
- Experience with SAP or other ERP systems is an advantage.
- Proven ability to lead initiatives and manage a small team effectively.
