An Anatomical Pathologist / Histopathologist position is available at the Khoo Teck Puat Hospital (KTPH) in Singapore.
The Associate Consultant / Consultant / Senior Consultant position is based in the Department of Laboratory Medicine (DLM), which provides a range of comprehensive laboratory services to KTPH, the adjoining Yishun Community Hospital (YCH) and external clients.
The Anatomical Pathologist / Histopathologist will provide diagnostic and consultative clinical services to the hospital and participate in teaching, research, quality improvement and administrative activities.
This include participating in scholarly activities, and attending to non-clinical administrative duties.
The range of services include routine and specialized diagnosis, cytology, frozen section interpretation and immunohistochemistry with an annual workload of over 7000 histology and approx.
2000 diagnostic cytology requests.
The diagnostic work includes a high proportion of specimens received by the laboratory from the breast and gastrointestinal tract together with urology, pulmonary, skin and head & neck.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee cytopathology and general histopathology service department/laboratory.
• Conduct gross examinations and provide anatomical pathology services as needed.
• Ensure the proper handling of all samples.
• Examine all samples as requested, conducting all necessary tests accurately.
• Provide a detailed written report with evaluation and diagnosis for each case.
• Participate in Multidisciplinary tumour board meetings
• Participate in internal and external QA
• Participate at some level in ongoing research and continuing medical educational development.
Job Requirements
· Possess a basic medical degree with a relevant postgraduate qualification such as FRCPath with CHCCT (CHCCT is a requirement for obtaining an accreditation in Singapore), FRCPA or board certification recognised by the Singapore Medical Council ().
· Completed specialty training in the relevant fields in countries such as Australia, UK or USA and preferably with at least 2 years of relevant experience as Specialist.
The specialist qualification in Clinical Pathology must be relevant and recognised by the Singapore Specialists Accreditation Board ( onus is on the candidate to ensure that their qualifications are recognised and suitable for registration by the professional bodies mentioned above prior to applying for this position.
· Published at least one article in peer-reviewed journals in a field related to Anatomical / Histopathology would be viewed as a strong advantage.
