Data Strategy Group
(DSG) harnesses and leverages GIC’s data to drive insights, enable investment decisions, and solve real business challenges.
We build a high-performance enterprise data infrastructure and data products to support a data-driven organization.
What you will do
Operational Excellence: Provide production support for data infrastructure platforms, including incident and emergency response management, availability management, change management, configuration management, and documentation.
Automation: Identify opportunities to automate operational tasks, streamline deployments via CI/CD, monitoring, and incident response to reduce manual intervention.
Monitoring & Observability: Design and implement metrics collection from monitoring systems (e.g., Datadog) to guide performance tuning and fault-finding efforts.
Performance Optimization: Analyze and improve system performance (e.g., CPU utilization, latency) of data platforms.
Securing by Design: Collaborate with internal security and infrastructure teams to ensure secure architectural design for data platforms.
Collaboration: Work with investment and technology professionals across departments to foster a collaborative environment.
What makes you a successful candidate
6+ years of relevant technology experience, preferably in financial risk services or asset management, with experience leading software development teams.
Hands-on engineering experience in:
Programming languages (e.g., Python, Java, C#/.NET Core)
SQL and relational databases (e.g., Snowflake, Postgres, Oracle)
Scripting for automation (e.g., Bash, PowerShell)
Monitoring tools (e.g., Datadog, Splunk, CloudWatch)
Cloud technologies & infrastructure as code (e.g., AWS, EKS, S3, Kubernetes, Terraform, KMS)
Distributed query technologies (e.g., Denodo, Presto/Trino, Starburst, Athena) – preferred
Data storage & EL/ETL processing (e.g., data lakes, data warehousing) – optional
Experience in application support practices such as incident management, capacity management, system and security administration, and database/network management, with automation experience using scripting languages.
Willingness to learn, with strong attention to detail and a passion for technology and/or finance.
Excellent communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences and ability to engage with software engineers.
Ability to collaborate with cross-departmental partners to deliver business outcomes.
Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in a STEM discipline is advantageous.
