Backup Implementation Engineer
Responsibilities
- Lead the end-to-end delivery, deployment, and configuration of enterprise backup and recovery projects according to customer requirements and industry best practices.
- Engage with clients to assess business continuity requirements, design tailored backup policies, schedules, and retention strategies aligned with compliance and regulatory standards.
- Collaborate with project managers, vendors, and cross-functional teams to ensure seamless execution of backup solutions.
- Act as the technical escalation point for complex implementation or recovery challenges across multiple concurrent projects.
- Deploy and configure enterprise backup solutions such as Avamar, Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, and Networker, including integration with storage, servers, and virtualization environments.
- Conduct regular recovery drills, disaster recovery simulations, and compliance audits to validate resilience and adherence to governance frameworks (e.g., MAS TRM, ISO
- Provide knowledge transfer, training, and mentoring to client IT staff and junior engineers to strengthen operational readiness.
- Document solution designs, configuration standards, and runbooks for long-term operational sustainability.
- Support pre-sales by providing technical consultation, feasibility assessments, and effort estimation for backup and recovery solutions.
Requirements
- Proven expertise in deploying and managing enterprise backup tools (e.g., Avamar, Commvault, Veeam, NetBackup, Networker).
- Strong understanding of system, storage, and network concepts, with ability to design integrated backup strategies for hybrid environments.
- Degree / Diploma in IT / Computer Studies or equivalent.
- 3 to 6 years of experience in backup engineering, with exposure to large-scale enterprise or regulated industry environments.
- Familiarity with compliance requirements (e.g., data residency, GDPR, MAS, ISO) is an advantage.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and client-facing skills.
