About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Bar Bending Scheduler to join our construction team.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing, reviewing, and managing bar bending schedules (BBS) in accordance with structural drawings and project specifications.
You will work closely with engineers, site supervisors, and steel fabricators to ensure accurate and timely execution of reinforcement works.
Key Responsibilities:
- Prepare detailed Bar Bending Schedules (BBS) from structural drawings and specifications.
- Interpret structural and architectural drawings to extract rebar requirements.
- Calculate quantities, cutting lengths, bending shapes, and weights of steel reinforcement bars.
- Coordinate with site engineers and structural consultants to resolve discrepancies in drawings.
- Ensure schedules comply with relevant codes and standards (e.g., BS 8666, IS 2502).
- Optimize steel usage to minimize waste and reduce project cost.
- Provide cutting and bending instructions to steel fabricators.
- Monitor reinforcement usage and assist in procurement planning.
- Maintain records of BBS, steel delivery, usage, and wastage.
- Liaise with contractors and suppliers to ensure smooth workflow and timely delivery.
- Support quality control and site inspections related to reinforcement works.
Qualifications & Requirements:
- Diploma or Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Technology, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Bar Bending Scheduler or similar role in construction.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings and structural detailing.
- Proficiency in BBS software/tools (e.g., AutoCAD, MS Excel, RebarCAD, etc.).
- Knowledge of reinforcement codes and standards (IS, BS, or ACI as applicable).
- Good mathematical and analytical skills.
- Attention to detail and high level of accuracy.
- Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
- Strong communication and coordination skills.
