Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced Unix Administrator with strong VMware expertise to join our project build team.
The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing, administering, and maintaining Unix/Linux systems and VMware virtualized environments.
This role requires deep technical knowledge of Unix/Linux platforms, VMware technologies, and enterprise infrastructure standards, along with the ability to support build and deployment activities across multiple projects.
Key Responsibilities
Install, configure, and maintain Unix/Linux servers (primarily RHEL).
Manage, provision, and support VMware vSphere environments, including ESXi hosts and vCenter.
Perform system monitoring, performance tuning, and capacity planning to ensure optimal infrastructure health.
Implement and maintain system security, patching, and compliance in alignment with CIS benchmarks and organizational standards.
Troubleshoot and resolve hardware, software, and networking issues, including application-to-database connectivity.
Perform file system and storage management; manage disk partitioning and LVM operations (resizing, splitting mount points, etc.).
Automate routine tasks using shell scripting (Bash, Perl, Python) or configuration management tools.
Maintain and support backup and disaster recovery procedures for Unix and VMware environments.
Collaborate with application, database, and network teams on deployments, upgrades, and system migrations.
Document system configurations, procedures, and troubleshooting steps for knowledge sharing and compliance.
Participate in on-call rotation and provide after-hours support when required.
Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
4+ years of hands-on experience in Unix/Linux system administration.
3+ years of practical experience with VMware vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, NFS, etc.).
Experience with storage systems (SAN/NAS) and enterprise backup solutions.
Familiarity with ITIL practices and structured change management processes.
Preferred Qualifications
VMware Certified Professional (VCP) certification.
Linux Administration Certifications (RHCSA, RHCE, CompTIA Linux+).
Experience with cloud integration or hybrid infrastructure environments.
