Overview
Position Description: The role is responsible for the procurement of raw materials, goods and services for the distribution centers.
Approves and qualifies vendors, obtains quotations, examines bids and makes awards.
Develops sources and evaluates vendor reliability.
Creates and manages manufacturing schedules to ensure that raw materials arrive in a timely manner to fulfill manufacturing requirements.
Ideally, the candidate should have a proven track record in developing and managing supplier relationships.
The individual will report into the Director- Purchasing and contribute to improve supply chain efficiency and enhance overall competitiveness.
This role supports the procurement team and related activities covering 2,000+ part numbers.
The role requires procurement experience with a proven track record of delivering broad international sourcing deliverables on time, within scope, and on budget.
The purchasing specialist will collaborate with cross-functional teams (R&D, Sourcing, Quality, Manufacturing, Finance) and communicate effectively with all stakeholders.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Work closely with Production Planner on on-demand requirements
- Release purchase orders per system-generated purchase requisitions and ensure all POs are delivered on time
- Proactively monitor material delivery according to SIOP plan to prevent material shortages impacting production
- Attend daily production meetings to communicate material issues and advise action items
- Perform weekly inventory monitoring to achieve raw material inventory targets
- Supplier performance tracking and management
- LRS contract negotiation to drive increase in LRS spend commodity by commodity
- Review E&O and manage LTB activities to minimize obsolescence risk
- Streamline processes and drive continuous improvement in performance and customer/employee satisfaction
- Lead in special projects and key initiatives as identified
Qualifications
- Degree in Supply Chain, Logistics or related discipline
- 5-8 years of experience in a dynamic and fast-paced MNC manufacturing environment
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Experience in SAP
- Ability to prioritize and work independently and proactively
- Strategic Sourcing & Cost Management – identify and execute cost-saving opportunities while ensuring quality and supply continuity
- Negotiation & Contract Management – skilled in managing supplier agreements and achieving favourable outcomes
- Supplier Relationship Management – develop strong supplier partnerships that enhance reliability, innovation, and sustainability
- Analytical Thinking – spend analysis, market intelligence, and fact-based decision-making
- Cross-Functional Collaboration – effective with diverse stakeholders across manufacturing, supply chain, finance, and quality
