Objective:
The Care Professional is expected to perform a variety of duties that relate to client care that include non-medical services that allow seniors to remain in their homes while receiving care.
These services are meant to enhance the quality of life for seniors.
Care Professional help clients, and their families meet the challenges of ageing with dignity, pride, care, and compassion.
Primary Responsibilities:
- Provide professional and culturally appropriate care and taking the lead to support seniors to live as independently as possible at home
- Tailor individualised care to suit the personal needs of our individual clients
- Perform simple daily routine nursing procedures when required
- Ensure the safety and wellbeing of seniors
- Provide personal care to seniors, including assistance with Activities of Daily Living (ADL):
- personal hygiene care (washing, showering / bed bath)
- toileting and incontinence issues
- dressing and personal grooming
- mobility and transferring
- feeding
- Check on vital signs and administering oral medication
- Maintain clear and legible documentation and records
- Provide companionship, conversation, and emotional support
- Remind and assist in oral medication
- Escort to medical appointments and other social activities
- Perform light housekeeping tasks & general home support when necessary
- Assist in grocery shopping & light meal preparation
- Assist in simple maintenance exercises
- Facilitate mind stimulating and recreational activities
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
- Certification in professional caregiving, healthcare assistant or other relevant qualifications (training & OJT will be provided for those who do not have relevant qualification)
- Hands-on care experience especially caring for seniors a plus
- Fluent in written and spoken English and able to converse in dialects or native language
- Ability to listen and communicate effectively
- Must be patient and compassionate
- Ability to work independently
- Have effective interpersonal skills and enjoy building relationships with seniors and their families
- Able to use simple MS Word
