This role reports directly to the Chief Executive Officer / Deputy Chief Executive of SPH Media.
The Chief Information Officer (CIO) is responsible for the technological vision and strategy of the company and will oversee the development and implementation of the company’s digital strategies.
The candidate will work closely with other executive team members to align digital initiatives with business objectives and ensure the organisation remains competitive in the evolving media landscape.
Overseeing the Technology division of approximately 300 staff, the role involves leading the Technology team in all digital transformation efforts, driving innovation through the adoption of new technologies, platforms, and processes to improve newsroom processes, business operations and customer engagement.
The CIO must work closely with other executives to ensure the integration of technology into all aspects of the business and will play a pivotal role in shaping the company's future through technological advancements.
This role is crucial in driving a company's digital growth and ensuring its infrastructure can support evolving business needs.
CIO will be required to champion the strategic deployment of IT technologies by providing leadership in formulating strategies and direction that transform SPH Tech operations and service capabilities.
The candidate must be able to communicate well with employees, stakeholders, and customers to ensure our company’s technologies adhere to legislation and are aligned with service outcomes, strategies, and resources.
The CIO must bear a deep understanding and expertise of the current technological trends and be a strategic thinker and people-oriented leader, a strong business acumen with a clear view of the organisation’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the development of the overall IT policies, strategy, and budget in line with the company’s strategy and business goals.
- Identify opportunities and implement new technologies and best practices that yield competitive advantage and enable the transformation of our media assets and publications.
- Lead efforts in the digital transformation of SPH Media to meet our users’ (internal and external) requirements to ensure optimal performance.
- Develop effective risk management practices and build quality assurance to achieve data confidentiality, system security, reliability, and resiliency.
- Monitor KPIs and IT budgets to assess technological performance.
- Determine and analyse stakeholders’ feedback to bring change and transformation to technology.
- Communicate the latest trend in technologies and strategies to stakeholders.
Requirements
- 10+ years of experience in technology leadership roles, with at least 5 years in an executive-level role leading IT strategies, infrastructure, systems and implementation.
- Proven track record of developing and executing technology strategies that drive impactful business growth and innovation.
- Extensive experience in managing cross-functional teams and large-scale technology projects.
- Relevant experience in news, media, or digital agency experience is an advantage.
- Experience in managing teams that scale and are comfortable across on-premises as well as hybrid cloud environments.
