Overview
The Digital and Intelligence Service (DIS) will defend and dominate in the digital domain.
As part of an integrated Singapore Armed Forces (SAF), the DIS will enhance Singapore’s security, from peace to war.
What you would do
Command, Control, Communications, Computers Experts (C4X) anchor MINDEF/SAF's cyber defence and also address emerging threats by developing digital products and solutions to provide the SAF with a technological edge in the digital domain.
In cybersecurity, C4Xs are involved in security monitoring, incident response, digital forensics, malware analysis, vulnerability assessment and penetration testing (VAPT), as well as cyber threat intelligence operations.
In the digital arena, C4Xs are well-versed in software engineering, data science and artificial intelligence, and develop bespoke software and AI/ML solutions for the SAF.

Candidates applying for the cybersecurity track should possess a strong foundation in networks and cyber security principles.
Candidates applying for the digital track should possess skills in software development or data science.
Relevant work experience and professional certifications would make you a strong candidate.
Responsibilities
Cyber Defence
- Monitor and defend against cyber threats targeting SAF systems.
- Conduct research about emerging cyber threats and vulnerabilities relevant to Singapore's defence.
- Conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify weaknesses.
- Respond to cyber incidents and implement corrective actions.
Software Development and Data Science
- Develop and implement digital solutions to enhance SAF's capabilities.
- Leverage data science and AI/ML to improve decision making in the SAF.
- Design and develop applications that meet the specific needs of the military.
Technical Skills
Cyber Defence
- Strong understanding of networks and core cybersecurity concepts such as network and host forensics, cryptography, cyber threat intelligence, penetration testing, malware analysis, and reverse engineering.
- Familiarity with Windows / Linux OS, scripting languages, and security tools (SIEM, vulnerability scanners, etc.) is preferred.
Software Development and Data Science
- Proficiency in software development or AI/ML techniques.
- Flexibility with different tech stacks is preferred because of the diverse range of projects
- Familiarity with the agile methodology and ability to design, develop and test software or AI/ML products.
Military Specific Skills
- Understanding of basic military concepts and protocols.
- Experience in a military setting can be a plus (though not mandatory for entry-level positions).
- Professional Certifications: Certifications which demonstrate technical abilities are preferred.
- Project Management Experience: Experience in managing projects can be an asset.
- Analytical skills in cybersecurity operations or software development / data science.
- Excellent problem-solving skills to troubleshoot security issues or capability gaps, and to develop targeted solutions to solve them.
- Flexible in applying technical know-how in policy development and organisational processes
- Excellent communication skills to collaborate effectively with management and other team members within a military structure.
- Able to learn fast and adapt to a diverse technology stack in both cybersecurity and digital work.
- Flexible in fulfilling various appointments which may also include leadership, policy, and organisational development.
