RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Community Worker, you will drive group and community-based initiatives within the service boundaries.
Operating from an asset-based framework, you will focus on building community strengths to proactively address systemic social issues like poverty and provide dedicated support for vulnerable populations, including older persons, children, and persons with disabilities.
Community Planning & Research:
- Conduct needs and asset assessments through detailed environmental scans, such as data collection and basic analysis (e.g., social data collation, surveys, interviews, community mapping, analysis of social trends) to inform strategy.
- Identify and document formal and informal community assets and resources, utilizing an asset-based framework to drive all initiatives.
- Evaluate the efficacy of community-based programs and engagement initiatives, providing evidence-based recommendations for continuous improvement.
Program Development & Implementation:
- Design, develop, and implement targeted community development programs and group work initiatives for specific demographics (e.g., aging communities, vulnerable groups), ensuring co-creation with community assets.
- Utilize collaborative approaches such as Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) or Narrative Community Work to empower and enrich communities.
- Develop and facilitate specialized training and workshops for external partners, clients, volunteers, and internal staff.
- Participate in broader community development initiatives, providing strategic recommendations for program consideration and resource allocation.
Stakeholder Management & Engagement:
- Lead engagement efforts to facilitate and build stakeholder co-ownership and co-creation of community platforms and initiatives.
- Match and mobilize stakeholders and their assets to contribute to community efforts.
- Plan, organize, and facilitate community conversations among stakeholders.
- Coordinate external partnerships with key volunteers and resource persons, maintaining an updated resource database.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Sociology or other relevant disciplines.
- Community Centric and believes in the power of community.
- Possess understanding of community-based organizations, and knowledge of working with groups.
- High adaptable, and comfortable working with evolving conditions.
- Good interpersonal and team management skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
