Job Description:
A construction estimator and quantity surveyor will review architectural plans, prepare a Bill of Quantity, and estimate the cost of projects based on drawings and details provided by clients.
- Review and analyze architectural plans to identify project scope and requirements
- Prepare detailed Bills of Quantity, including materials and labor costs
- Estimate quantities and costs of projects, taking into account factors such as material prices, labor rates, and other expenses
- Track changes in plans or constructions, update budgets, and negotiate with contractors and subcontractors
- Document progress, materials, and changes in contracts, ensuring compliance with regulations and company policies
- Source materials and subcontractors, developing and maintaining relationships with key suppliers
- Develop and maintain working relationships with contractors, subcontractors, and clients, providing excellent customer service and support
- Utilize software to calculate, record, and estimate project costs, improving efficiency and accuracy
Requirements and Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction engineering, management, or related field
- 1-3 years of general construction estimating experience, financial experience, construction experience, or related field
- Proficient in computer skills and Microsoft Office Suite, with expertise in construction estimation software
- Able to analyze financial records and apply data to improved results, making informed decisions that drive business growth
- Strong aptitude for numbers, spreadsheets, and financial reports, with attention to detail and accuracy
- Experienced at compiling and following strict budgets, with strong estimating and financial analysis skills
- In-depth understanding of construction, materials, pricing, and industry trends, with ability to stay up-to-date on regulatory changes and best practices
