Responsibilities
Carry out troubleshooting and corrective action of instrument breakdowns or failures to identify root causes and implement the best solution to restore functionality.
Respond to technical queries from operation personnel and provide advice/solutions according to best engineering practice to address issues affecting power plant operation.
Follow C&I work instructions and propose changes for improvement where necessary.
Lead the execution of shutdown works for instrumentation to ensure completion on time.
Coordinate cross-functional maintenance works with various sections.
Perform risk assessment prior to start of work and conduct on-job risk assessment to identify residual risks for planned/unplanned work.
Monitor spare parts and inventory for critical instrumentation to ensure availability and minimize unplanned outages; establish and update inventory for current operation.
Provide technical inputs in the full cycle of procurement processes for materials and service requisition to address technical requirements and protect the company’s interests.
Identify, study, propose, and implement areas for improvement in instrumentation engineering to enhance operation and improve overall equipment reliability.
Supervise on-site contractors and C&I vendors to ensure safe, high-quality work; review procedures and instructions for compliance.
Participate in meetings and initiatives relevant to the job role and business needs to safeguard the company’s interests.
Populate inputs into the CMMS to capture data and history of equipment maintenance activities; provide input to Planning Engineer for instrument maintenance activities.
Job Requirements
Possess a degree in Instrumentation and Control Engineering or Electronics and Electrical Engineering with at least three (3) years of experience in instrumentation, or a diploma with at least seven (7) years of instrumentation experience.
Proficient in codes and standards in the power plant industry (e.g., BSI, ISO27001, ANSI, IEC, IEEE).
Strong interpersonal skills, a team player, and able to work with all levels of management and multinational staff.
Hands-on experience in field instrumentation and sensors from different makes.
Proficient in power plant DCS and HMI systems; experience with ABB Advant DCS, GE Alspa DCS is advantageous.
Proficient in any power plant PLC control system.
Proficient in P&ID, loop diagrams, process functional flow diagrams; familiar with gas turbine/steam turbine operations and protection concepts.
Cyber security knowledge in Operational Technology is an added advantage.
