DESIGNATION : Control & Instrumentation Engineer
RESPONSIBILITIES
Supporting the Asset Management Department.
This position will support the operation, maintenance, and optimization of controls systems within a Combined Cycle Gas Turbine (CCGT) Power Plant.
The Subject Matter Expert (SME) will ensure high reliability, availability and performance of instrumentation and control systems while maintaining compliance with safety, environmental and regulatory standards.
- Serve as the technical authority for C&I assets in the plant including turbine control systems (T3000, Mark Vie), DCS, PLCs, SCADA and field instrumentation.
- Review and recommend a comprehensive maintenance strategy based on criticality assessments, integrating Condition-Based Maintenance (CBM), Preventive Maintenance (PM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM).
- Manage the entire lifecycle of the plant's C&I assets, from acquisition to decommissioning.
- Develop strategies for effective utilisation, performance optimisation and timely upgrades or replacements.
- Design, review, and maintain control systems including gas and steam turbine generators, and auxiliary systems.
- Perform diagnostics, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis of C&I faults and failures.
- Support planned and unplanned outages, including scope development, contractor coordination, and testing.
- Develop Outage QC checklist and hold points to ensure critical stages of the outage are monitored.
- Develop and optimize preventive and predictive maintenance strategies for C&I assets.
- Monitor and analyze C&I performance data to optimize plant efficiency and reliability.
- Interface with SCADA, DCS, and PLC systems for control and monitoring of C&I assets.
- Lead or support C&I upgrade projects, including feasibility studies and CAPEX planning.
- Coordinate with OEMs and vendors for technical support and spare parts management
- Monitor and analyze equipment performance data to identify reliability risks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) for both engineering functions and asset performance.
- Lead in Root Cause Analysis (RCA) for complex plant issues.
- Collaborate with OEMs and vendors for technical support and upgrades.
- Oversee O&M budget and develop/ manage budgets for engineering improvement projects and asset management initiatives.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical, Electronics, Instrumentation or Control Engineering
- At least 8 years of experience in Power Generation, preferably in CCGT.
- Strong knowledge of IEC, IEEE, and NEC standards.
- Experience with Siemens V94.3 (T3000) and GE 9HA.01 (Mark Vie) control systems is essential.
- Experience with steam turbines controls and BoP systems (e.g., water treatment, fuel gas systems, cooling systems)
- Proficient in troubleshooting, loop tuning, and control logic development.
- Familiarity with cybersecurity practices for industrial control systems.
- Strong analytical, communication, and leadership skills.
- Familiar with Condition Monitoring, Predictive Maintenance, and Digital Twin Technologies.
- Ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage contractors during outages.
- Have a safety mindset and display good workplace safety behaviour.
- Be actively involved in emergency responses whenever called upon.
