About Department and Purpose

The Coordinator (Surgical Clinical Reviewer) works with surgical champions to identify opportunities for clinical quality improvement and benchmark procedures using the National Surgical Quality Improvement Programme (NSQIP).

Key Responsibilities

  • Work with clinician champion to identify surgical patients for inclusion in NSQIP.

  • Collect preoperative, operative, and postoperative data components via hospital medical record systems.

  • Conduct follow-ups with patients to monitor responses to treatment and care plans.

  • Attend weekly Morbidity & Mortality conferences to ensure reliable data collection of postoperative occurrences.

  • Identify streamlining and process improvement opportunities in the data collection process.

  • Utilize software applications for data collection and analysis.

  • Accurately and timely enter data into the programme’s database, meeting caseload accrual protocol.

  • Assist in driving process improvements and streamlining workflows to ensure efficient operations for patient care journey.

  • Perform any other duties as assigned by reporting officer.

Key Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor degree.

  • Preferred nursing or medical background.

  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office applications (Word/Excel/PowerPoint/Outlook).

  • Meticulous attention to detail for accurate data abstraction.

  • Proficiency in specialised data collection tools and understanding of basic statistical principles.

  • Basic understanding of surgical patient care, common procedures and human anatomy/physiology preferred.

  • Collaboration, problem-solving and ability to work in a team and manage projects and deadlines valued.
