Data Center Operation Technician, Data Center Operations
AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure.
We support AWS data centers and the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure continual access to services.
We work on challenging problems across the supply chain and seek talented people to help.
Responsibilities
Work as part of the Operations team to maintain the data center infrastructure.
Perform server rack installation, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to emergent situations affecting operational stability.
Meet SLAs for assigned trouble tickets via a directed workflow; serve as the first-line contact for hardware troubleshooting and technical issues.
Participate in on-call duties, scheduled maintenance, and change management activities requiring monitoring of the data center infrastructure.
Attend team meetings for metric analysis and to discuss daily/weekly goals.
Know and apply safety and security policies and procedures within the department.
Contribute to documentation on technical issues through root cause analysis and contribute to process improvement initiatives in the data center environment.
More experienced technicians may assist in training less experienced team members.
Involves covering 24x7 shift rotation.
A Day in the Life
You will support DC (Data Center) infrastructure equipment (e.g., racks, servers, networking devices, hardware components, cables).
You will follow a ticket-based environment, work on systematic problem resolution, and perform routine operations on hardware or spare parts, including rack install, server break/fix, rack decommissioning, etc.
You will perform on-call duties and participate in Data Center operations, handling scheduled maintenance and change management activities requiring monitoring of the data center infrastructure.
Show a strong aptitude for troubleshooting and problem solving.
Be involved with site management and maintain tidiness in operation areas.
Your role involves covering 24x7 shift rotation.

Basic Qualifications
Computer/server hardware troubleshooting experience required
Computer networking experience including fiber troubleshooting and theory
Minimum 2+ years in a relevant field
Preferred Qualifications
LINUX operating system, hardware, or networking certifications
Knowledge of cloud computing environments
Understanding of IT service management and data center safety and security
