Overview
The position of Research Officer is a key role in supporting the development and maintenance of surgical registries and databases as well as the design, execution, and publication of high-impact surgical health services research.

Database/Registry Development & Maintenance
Our team is looking for an individual who can design and create data pipelines that meet pre-specified needs and requirements of projects and maintain their proper function.
- Design and develop data pipelines to meet project needs and requirements
Data Collection, Management, Analysis
As a Research Officer, you will be responsible for gathering data from various sources and organizing it for analysis, performing statistical and data analysis techniques to generate insights from the data, ensuring accuracy and completeness of data through data validation and cleaning, and applying data science/machine learning methods to analyse large datasets.

Exploratory Data Analysis
As part of your role, you will perform exploratory data analysis to facilitate initial data investigation, summarising and presenting exploratory data analysis results to stakeholders.

Artificial Intelligence (AI) Related Projects
Developing/Building a technical AI development plan based on the research question (include machine learning, natural language processing, generative AI, deep learning models)

Presentations & Data Visualization
As a Research Officer, you will produce reports and presentations to communicate findings and recommendations, creating visual representations of data to effectively communicate insights, and preparing presentation slides and posters for submission to local and international conferences.

Requirements
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Systems, Soft Engineering, Biomedical Science, Statistics, or any related computational disciplines or equivalent
- Advanced proficiency in Python, R, Java code writing
- Hands-on experience with database design and development
- Extensive knowledge of machine learning frameworks, libraries, data structures, data modelling, software architecture
- In-depth knowledge of mathematics, statistics, and algorithms
- Demonstrated technical expertise with data models, data mining, segmentation techniques
- Familiarity with healthcare database management systems and processes, healthcare data governance policies, and regulation
- Familiarity with generative AI methodologies
- Analytical problem solver: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, ability to work with incomplete or imperfect data
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, ability to explain the work in plain language
- Effective team player: Collaborate with members of inter-professional functions, contribute to and adapt within multidisciplinary teams
- Passion to contribute and develop a career in the healthcare analytics and health services research arena
