Job Responsibilities
- Work with the Singapore business community to articulate and advocate its interests on cross-border trade and investment policies at regional and international fora (e.g., ABAC, ASEAN-BAC, ICC, B20, WTO, EABC, Asia Business Summit).
- Focus on priority areas including: trade and investment, trade in services, digital economy and e-commerce, customs and trade facilitation, trade compliance, trade digitalisation, trade finance, and sustainability in trade.
- Provide secretariat support for APEC, ASEAN and East Asia BAC members at meetings and working groups.
Champion and implement ACCEPT (APEC centre of excellence for paperless trade).
- Play a central role in the planning and implementation of Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship and APEC Chairmanship Work with MTI to determine and align the Priority Economic Deliverables (PEDs), and establish BAC working committees to deliver business PEDs.
- Engage businesses, partners, and stakeholders through surveys, focus groups, seminars, and studies to capture feedback on trade and investment concerns, and raise awareness of regional/international initiatives.
- Collaborate with the CFOTI team to deliver outreach and education programmes on trade and investment, with emphasis on the digital and green economy.
- Build and maintain strong stakeholder networks to expand SBF's influence and following on cross-border trade and investment issues.
- Staff the ICC Regional Coordinator for APAC and ICC Singapore as the National Committee, supporting activities such as the ICC Arbitration Group, ICC Customs and Trade Facilitation Group, ICC Digital Economy Group, and ICC Academy.
- Develop and present policy papers, recommendations, and thought leadership pieces to advance Singapore's business interests globally.
- Undertake other responsibilities and duties as assigned by SBF.
Job Requirements
- Minimally a degree with at least 8 years of working experience, with previous experience in advocating for the interests of companies on overcoming the barriers in international trade policies and regulations in the areas of trade and investment, trade in services, digital economy, customs and trade facilitation, and trade finance.
- Experienced in staffing work and secretariat support for the priority multi-lateral platforms including ABAC, ASEAN BAC, EABC, ICC etc.
- A good understanding of Singapore companies' interests and concerns with respect to the above-mentioned topics.
- Good strategic thinking, analytical, planning, consultation, communication, presentation and facilitation skills.
- Strong written and oral communication skills in English with the ability to write policy papers.
- People management experience and skills.
- Results-oriented with multi-tasking capabilities.
- Strong drive and proactive self-starter.
- Able to work well in a team and as an individual contributor.
- Able to travel frequently.
