Job description
This person is responsible for supporting Data Center NOC network communications, including maintaining, and monitoring LAN/WAN/Wireless network environment needed to provide a great end user experience.
Utilizes LAN/WAN/Wireless network monitoring tools to ensure optimal system utilization, performance and system availability.
Supports vendors to install, maintain, and troubleshoot systems and services vital to organization’s business.
Contributes to highly complex technical projects.
**Responsibilities:**
+ Responsible for tier-1 network monitoring and operations of customer's IDC network, providing 24/7 support, on a 3x 8-hour shift rotation.
+ Responsible for promptly responding to, following up on, and driving the resolution of various network alarms and faults.
Escalate to tier-2 engineer if needed.
+ Responsible for following up and finishing network breakfixes like switch replacement, link repairing and dark fiber restoration.
+ Work with IDC technicians to conduct physical work and provide proper instruction remotely.
+ Responsible for conducting some simple network maintenance.
+ Summarise daily monitoring and operations work into documents and regularly share within the team.
+ Must be available evenings and weekends as situations required.
**Qualifications:**
+ Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent
+ Minimum 1 to 3 years of experience in data center network monitoring and operations.
+ Hands-on experience with Cisco switching, routing and wireless hardware, software and support.
+ Good understanding of TCP/IP and routing protocols, such as OSPF, BGP (ISIS), ARP, STP, OTN etc.Multi-vendor experience is a plus.
+ Responsible, meticulous, have good communication skills.
+ Capable of network troubleshooting with CLI, and experience with Linux is preferred.
+ Certificate like CCNA/JNCIA is preferred.
**Skills:**
+ Router and switch configuration.
+ MicroSoft suite of software including Visio and Power Point.
+ Effective communications with end users and other IT staff.
+ Ability to create clear and highly accurate project and network documentation is a must.
+ Working knowledge of carrier based MPLS networks.
+ Ability to understand carrier networks and cloud based service offerings.
+ Ability to quickly analyze situations and act decisively.
+ Vendor management.
+ Advanced troubleshooting abilities.
+ Knowledge of industry best practices and support concepts (ITIL, BICSI, Lean).
