Role Overview
Responsible for designing, developing, and testing optical circuits, modules, and systems, ensuring product quality, compliance with standards, and successful project delivery.
Involves cross-disciplinary knowledge in optics, electronics, mechanics, firmware, and systems.
Responsibilities
- Basic level of design and development of optical circuits, modules, and systems
- Conduct optical testing, verification, and quality assurance
- Create and execute test plans based on requirements
- Perform optical simulations and create lens designs
- Support troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and certifications
- Participate in discussions of DFMEA, SPC, and statistical analysis for quality control with Senior members of the team
- Identify cost-saving opportunities in optical components
- Benchmark optical solutions and define best practices (ie.
Competitor Analysis) Analyse and digest reports / data to support in generation of finding reports for purpose of usage to study and further develop solutions suitable for product ideas
Requirements:
- Diploma or higher in Optical Engineering, Engineering Optics, or equivalent
- Minimum 2+ years of R&D experience in optics-related product development (Senior minimally 2-3 years of relevant working experience)
- If industrial experience is not applicable, advanced understanding of optical technical know-how is key .
- Good knowledge of sensor technology and optical testing methodology
- Familiarity with IEC/ISO standards (e.g., IEC 62471, IEC 60825)
- Proficiency in optical simulation tools (e.g., Zemax) and first-order ray tracing
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills in failure analysis
