About The Team
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Engineering Manager to lead our AI Platform team.
The AI team’s purpose is to make Airwallex an AI‐driven company by leveraging cutting‐edge AI and machine‐learning technologies to drive innovation, improve operational efficiency, and enhance customer experience.
What You’ll Do
Develop and execute the strategy for the AI team, aligning the technical direction and roadmap with Airwallex’s business objectives.
Build, mentor, and lead a high‐performing team of software engineers and AI specialists, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and technical excellence.
Partner closely with Product, Design, and Operations to define the roadmap, prioritize a measurable backlog, and deliver high‐impact AI solutions.
Own the architecture and system quality across our AI services, providing deep technical guidance on model development, deployment, and maintenance.
Remain hands‐on where it matters most, guiding architectural designs, reviewing critical models and APIs, and de‐risking complex initiatives.
Champion best practices for the entire AI lifecycle, including prompt‐tuning, context engineering, fine‐tuning, annotations, and human‐in‐the‐loop feedback.
Own the operational health of our production AI systems, including on‐call readiness, model monitoring, incident response, post‐mortems, and continuous reliability improvements.
Lead the talent strategy for your organization—recruit, onboard, and develop top‐tier engineers and managers, building a diverse team and robust succession plans.
Effectively communicate progress, insights, and the business impact of AI initiatives to executive leadership and other stakeholders across the company.
What You Need To Have
We’re looking for people who meet the minimum qualifications for this role.
The preferred qualifications are great to have, but are not mandatory.
Minimum Qualifications
Educational Background: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Data Science, or a related field.
Advanced degrees are an advantage.
Experience: Minimum 10+ years of experience in software engineering or AI/ML development, with at least 3 years in a leadership role managing high‐performing teams.
Technical Skills: Proficiency in Python; strong understanding of AI/ML frameworks and libraries; experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud) and containerization technologies (e.g., Docker, Kubernetes).
Leadership Skills: Proven ability to build, lead, and inspire a diverse team focused on delivering business‐driven outcomes.
Problem‐Solving: Strong analytical and problem‐solving skills with the ability to understand complex business problems and propose effective technical solutions.
Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate technical concepts to both technical and non‐technical stakeholders.
Innovation Mindset: Passionate about AI and technology with a keen interest in staying updated on the latest trends and advancements in the field.
