Job Description
Role Overview:
As the Engineering Manager/Assistant Engineering Manager (Materials Management), you will oversee the technical management and daily operations related to the handling, storage, and control of electrical and mechanical engineering components at the Integrated Waste Management Facility (IWMF) in Tuas South.
Your role is vital to ensuring materials are properly received, maintained, and available to support engineering projects and operations.
Responsibilities:
Project Phase:
Lead the technical setup and commissioning of materials handling for Electrical Substation (ESS), EPC1, and EPC2 projects.
Coordinate closely with engineering teams and contractors to ensure proper tagging, identification, and secure management of critical components.
Ensure all material handling complies with engineering standards and project specifications.
Operational Engineering Management:
Oversee systems and processes that track the condition and availability of engineering components.
Develop and implement technical procedures for receipt, storage, and dispatch of materials.
Conduct regular technical inspections and audits to verify material quality and compliance with safety and environmental regulations.
Monitor shelf life and condition of materials, applying engineering expertise to maintain readiness and integrity.
Technical Leadership and Team Management:
Supervise and train personnel on proper handling, storage, and safety protocols for engineering materials.
Ensure strict adherence to workplace safety standards and engineering regulations.
Collaborate with project engineers and operational teams to align materials management with project milestones and operational needs.
Reporting and Documentation:
Prepare detailed technical reports on material status, conditions, and audit results for senior management.
Maintain accurate records of engineering materials, including certifications and compliance documents.
Requirements:
Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related discipline.
At least 5 years of experience managing materials handling and control in engineering projects or industrial settings.
Strong understanding of engineering standards, safety protocols, and environmental regulations related to material management.
Ability to interpret technical drawings, specifications, and control systems.
Demonstrated leadership capability in managing engineering teams.
Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
Valid Forklift Operator License is a plus.
