As an Engineering Specialist/ Engineer, you will be a hands-on technical expert who works directly with account teams and clients on-sites to deliver engineering services through our variable resourcing model.
This is a boots on the ground role where you'll be deployed across multiple client locations, providing technical support, executing maintenance programs, and ensuring operational excellence at the site level.
You'll be part of our centralized Front of House engineering team, working flexibly across different client accounts based on demand and technical requirements.
Your day-to-day work involves direct engineering execution, troubleshooting, system assessments, and providing technical expertise to support account teams in delivering exceptional facility management services.
This role is perfect for an experienced engineer who enjoys hands-on technical work, client interaction, and the variety that comes with working across multiple sites and account teams.
You'll have the support of the broader engineering platform while focusing on practical, on-site engineering execution that directly impacts client satisfaction.
Hands-On Engineering Excellence
You will spend your time on client sites conducting inspections, performing maintenance, troubleshooting equipment issues, and supporting account teams with technical expertise.
Your work directly ensures that building systems operate efficiently, safely, and in compliance with all relevant standards.
Duties and Responsibilities:
On-Site Engineering Execution:
- Conduct regular site visits and technical assessments across assigned Flexible FM accounts
- Delivery of hands-on maintenance, repairs, and system optimization on MEP equipment
- Execute preventive maintenance programs and condition-based maintenance activities
- Respond to emergency calls and urgent technical issues across multiple sites
- Conduct equipment inspections, testing, and commissioning activities
- Operate and maintain building management systems, HVAC controls, and monitoring equipment
Account Team Support:
- Provide technical expertise and engineering guidance to account managers and site teams
- Support client meetings and technical discussions with engineering insights
- Assist with technical aspects of client proposals, scope changes, and service improvements
- Collaborate with account teams to identify opportunities for operational improvements
- Provide technical input for budgeting, planning, and resource allocation decisions
- Support new account transitions and technical handovers
Technical Problem Solving:
- Troubleshoot complex equipment failures and system malfunctions
- Conduct root cause analysis on recurring technical issues
- Develop and implement practical solutions to improve system reliability
- Coordinate with contractors and vendors for specialized repairs and installations
- Review and validate contractor work quality and compliance
- Document technical findings and recommendations in client reports
Compliance & Safety:
- Ensure all work complies with safety regulations, building codes, and client standards
- Conduct safety assessments and risk evaluations on client sites
- Support compliance audits and regulatory inspections
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, testing, and maintenance activities
- Implement and monitor safety protocols across all assigned sites
- Report safety incidents and near-misses following established procedures
System Optimization & Improvement:
- Monitor building system performance and identify efficiency opportunities
- Recommend energy conservation measures and sustainability improvements
- Support the implementation of new technologies and system upgrades
- Analyze utility consumption and system performance data
- Develop maintenance schedules and optimize PM programs based on equipment condition
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across the Flexible FM platform
Documentation & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate maintenance logs, inspection reports, and technical documentation
- Update CMMS systems with work orders, findings, and recommendations
- Prepare technical reports and presentations for clients and internal stakeholders
- Document best practices and lessons learned for knowledge sharing
- Support the development of site-specific technical procedures and protocols

Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) OR equivalent technical diploma with relevant experience
- 5-7 years of hands-on engineering experience in facilities management, building operations, or industrial maintenance
- Strong technical knowledge of MEP systems, HVAC, electrical systems, and building automation
- Experience with preventive maintenance programs and CMMS systems
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and specifications
- Valid driver's license and willingness to travel between multiple client sites
- Physical ability to work in mechanical rooms, climb ladders, and perform hands-on technical work
- Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently
- Excellent communication skills for client and team interaction
Preferred Qualifications:
- Professional engineering license or relevant trade certifications
- Experience working across multiple client sites or accounts
- Background in commercial real estate or corporate facility management
- Familiarity with energy management systems and building analytics
- Experience with predictive maintenance technologies (vibration analysis, thermography, oil sampling)
- Knowledge of sustainability and energy efficiency practices
- Basic project management skills
