Job Purpose
The EE/SE is to enhance the safety and reliability of the railway infrastructure system by leading workflow effectiveness and efficiency improvements in inspection, maintenance, and other supplementary activities.
Subject to deployment, the scope can include the track, third rail, point, viaduct, tunnel, station, and/or depot infrastructure assets.
The EE/SE is required to conduct defect troubleshooting, failure analysis, reliability trending, engineering studies, maintenance/renewal planning, asset management planning, supply chain management planning, and/or develop solutions to identified problems.
The EE/SE provides technical advice to team members and resolves complex issues related to railway infrastructure and frontline engineering train faults.
The EE/SE also engages with and manages contractors and stakeholders to ensure standards and quality are met.
They may conduct training, assessments, and develop training materials as needed.
Depending on business needs, professional development, and succession planning, the EE/SE may be rotated within or across divisions.
Responsibilities
Work in any SMRT depots, tracks, or facilities
Work in rotating or fixed shifts (as per MOM guidelines)
Support the division’s efforts to achieve daily, short-term, and long-term objectives and KPIs
Ensure the timely completion of all duties and projects assigned
Collaborate effectively with Operations and Maintenance staff, as well as other engineering and project departments, to ensure safe, reliable, and efficient daily operations
Identify safety and reliability concerns and develop solutions
Draft technical work instructions for maintenance activities and quality procedures
Propose and implement cost-effective technologies and process changes to enhance system performance
Support review of project design specifications for safety, reliability, maintainability, and operability
Assist in planning annual budgets and work plans
Report safety concerns at the workplace
Perform additional tasks as assigned, including admin functions, emergency response, project support, contractor verification, and report preparation
Qualifications & Work Experience
Degree in Mechanical, Mechatronics, Electrical, Electronics, Civil & Structural Engineering or equivalent from a recognized institution.
Previous railway system experience is advantageous.
Skills
Strong leadership and interpersonal skills.
Able to work hands-on in office and site environments alongside other engineers and technical staff.
Willing to work in different shift timings when required.
Skilled in diagnostics and reliability engineering methods such as FMECA, Fault Tree Analysis, Weibull analysis, and Damage Tolerance Analysis.
Proficient in Microsoft Office; knowledge of Python and MATLAB is advantageous.
Strong analytical, decision-making, organizational, and planning skills.
Fluent in written and spoken English.
