Roles & Responsibilities We are representing an international trading firm in search of an experienced Freight Trader to strengthen its cargo-side trading activities.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing freight pricing, optimising chartering strategies and expanding third-party cargo relationships to support global trading operations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Freight Pricing & Negotiation: Liaise with traders, owners, and brokers to price freight, negotiate charter party terms, and identify profitable opportunities using FFAs and market analysis.
- Cargo-Side Chartering: Manage existing cargo flows and accounts, securing Supramax, Ultramax, and Panamax vessels on time-charter basis to optimise freight coverage and support trading activities.
- Market Intelligence: Monitor bulk commodity flows, competitor activity, and freight trends to support commercial decisions.
- Voyage Execution: Oversee contract accuracy, voyage performance, and PnL in coordination with operations and execution teams.
- Relationship Management: Build and maintain relationships with shipowners, brokers, and third-party partners to optimize fleet utilisation and new business.
Key Requirements:
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Maritime, Economics, Engineering, or Finance.
- 3+ years' experience in dry bulk chartering or freight trading (Supramax / Ultramax / Panamax).
- Strong analytical, negotiation, and relationship-building skills.
- Proficient in MS Excel, familiar with FFAs and freight systems
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
