(What you will be working on)

At GovTech's Data Program, we drive effective and safe data sharing within and beyond Government, enabling agencies to deliver the best possible services to citizens while upholding the highest standards of data privacy and security.

We believe that trust is the foundation of digital government, and protecting citizen data is at the heart of everything we do.

Our flagship privacy products – Cloak for Anonymisation and for Synthetic Data Generation – are whole-of-government platforms that apply cutting-edge privacy technologies before data is shared.

Cloak is used by over 120 agencies and has anonymised more than 70 million documents to date.

It supports both tabular and free-text anonymisation, powered by LLMs that enable few-shot prompting for custom entity recognition and accuracy improvements.

Cloak is optimised for Singaporean entities, for example local names and addresses.

Mirage generates synthetic datasets that preserve the statistical properties of real data while protecting individual privacy.

It combines deep learning models with statistical approaches, working at the frontier of privacy-preserving AI.

Role:

• Design and Develop : Build responsive and user-friendly interfaces with , and integrate backend services and RESTful APIs using FastAPI
• Deploy and Scale : Containerize applications with Docker and deploy via AWS Lambda and the Serverless Framework , managing infrastructure with Terraform for scalability, security, and cost efficiency.
  
  
• Automate and Assure Quality : Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines in GitLab , enabling automated builds, testing, and deployments; participate in code reviews, refactoring, and performance tuning to ensure high reliability.
  
  
• Advance Privacy Tech : Collaborate with Data Engineers and Data Scientists to benchmark, evaluate, and implement LLM- and deep learning–based solutions .
  
  Translate research findings into product features, ensuring users can easily generate or anonymise data to high accuracy.
  
  
• Shape Architecture : Contribute to system design and architectural decisions that keep products maintainable, scalable, and secure.
  
  
• Collaborate Cross-Functionally : Work with product managers, engineers, and privacy researchers to deliver features that meet both functional and security requirements.
  
  
• Innovate and Evolve : Stay at the forefront of emerging AI and privacy technologies , bringing research into production at whole-of-government scale, and propose improvements to boost performance, security, and developer workflows.
  
  

(What we are looking for)

• Degree or Diploma in computing, design or a relevant field of study
• Minimum 3 years' experience in software engineering or related role
• Hands-on experience in frontend development using or any other web libraries or frameworks (React, Angular, Vue and etc)
• Experience in backend with REST APIs with Python or any other backend frameworks/language
• Proficiency in cloud environments (AWS preferred; GCP or Azure acceptable)
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tooling would be an advantage
• Strong understanding of Docker and containerized deployments
• Familiarity with Git version control and testing
• Understanding of DevOps, Git and CI/CD would be an advantage
• Interest in web app development with UI/UX design, and API development
• Experience in data science, AI, data privacy or data security is a bonus
• Curiosity, willingness to learn, and inclination to work in a collaborative environment
