An exciting opportunity has arisen for a General Procurement Buyer to join a leading organisation in Singapore.

This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a collaborative and supportive environment, where your expertise in procurement will directly impact the efficiency and quality of goods and services across 16 countries in the Asia Pacific region.

You will be empowered to manage supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure compliance with global standards, all while working alongside knowledgeable colleagues who value your input.

With exposure to a diverse supplier base and the chance to work on high-value transactions, this position offers both professional growth and the satisfaction of making a tangible difference.

  • Be part of an inclusive team that manages procurement activities across 16 countries, handling over €30 million in spend and collaborating with more than 500 suppliers.

  • Work in a supportive environment where your negotiation skills, analytical abilities, and commitment to responsible sourcing are highly valued and nurtured.

What you'll do:

As a General Procurement Buyer based in Singapore, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring that procurement operations run smoothly across multiple countries in the Asia Pacific region.

Your day-to-day responsibilities will involve managing purchase orders through SAP ERP systems, resolving invoice issues promptly, conducting thorough price checks, and maintaining accurate supplier records.

You will collaborate closely with internal teams such as Sales & Marketing, IT & Security, Legal, Supply Chain, Finance & Controlling, Quality Management, as well as external partners including suppliers and public authorities.

By collecting supplier KPIs from various functions and monitoring their performance rigorously throughout the year, you will help guarantee reliable supply chains that meet stringent standards for quality and timeliness.

Your involvement in contract management will see you supporting sustainability efforts while ensuring all documentation is compliant with group standards.

Additionally, you will contribute to sourcing new suppliers by participating in their qualification process and helping select those who offer the best combination of price and service.

Regular engagement with governance teams ensures that all procurement activities adhere strictly to compliance requirements.

Staying abreast of market trends through diligent research will empower you to make informed decisions during negotiations.

Success in this role means being proactive in stakeholder communication-ensuring everyone is aligned at every stage-and demonstrating meticulous attention to detail when managing large volumes of transactions.

  • Oversee the end-to-end process of purchase order management, including creation and issuing on SAP, ensuring timely approval and resolution of any invoice discrepancies or blocked items.

  • Conduct regular price checks within the system, control for missing or differing prices, and liaise with suppliers to obtain accurate pricing information as required.

  • Collect key performance indicators from internal stakeholders regarding suppliers' performance, monitor top suppliers biannually or annually, and report on reliability in terms of quality, delivery time, and volume.

  • Maintain up-to-date vendor master data by managing new supplier onboarding, updating geographies, procedures, policies, and best practices within the database.

  • Support contract management activities by following up on extra costs related to sustainability initiatives and responsible sourcing while assisting with administrative tasks.

  • Assist in qualifying new suppliers according to company requirements, participate in their accreditation process, and help functional departments scout for competent suppliers delivering high-quality products or services.

  • Organise vendor selection processes to ensure optimal solutions based on price, quality, and delivery timelines while supporting contract negotiations for assigned goods or services.

  • Engage regularly with Governance Risk Compliance teams to identify areas for improvement or maintenance and ensure full compliance with relevant requirements.

  • Steer regular updates with key stakeholders to maintain alignment during requests for quotation (RFQ), tenders, or negotiations.

  • Gather industry intelligence and market data prior to negotiations to stay informed about current trends affecting procurement categories.

What you bring:

To excel as a General Procurement Buyer in this organisation's Asia Pacific hub requires a blend of technical proficiency and interpersonal sensitivity.

Your background should include hands-on experience managing complex procurement cycles using SAP ERP systems-handling everything from purchase requisitions through to final approvals-while also being adept at resolving invoice discrepancies efficiently.

You bring an analytical mindset that allows you to dissect spending patterns by supplier or category so that cost efficiencies can be identified without compromising on quality or service levels.

Your ability to communicate clearly-both verbally and in writing-means you can build trust-based relationships with colleagues across different functions as well as external suppliers.

Experience negotiating high-value contracts demonstrates your confidence navigating challenging discussions while always seeking mutually agreeable outcomes.

Familiarity with digital procurement tools like Ariba further enhances your capability but is not essential if you have strong foundational knowledge of procurement best practices.

You are comfortable gathering performance data from multiple sources within the business so that supplier reliability can be monitored objectively over time.

Supporting contract management activities-particularly those linked to sustainability goals-shows your commitment to responsible sourcing practices.

Above all else, your willingness to work collaboratively ensures that stakeholder alignment remains central throughout every project you undertake.

  • A degree in business administration, management, accounting or an equivalent industry certification is essential for this position.

  • Demonstrated experience negotiating individual spends exceeding €100k is required along with proven vendor management capabilities.

  • Proficiency using SAP ERP systems for purchase requisition (PR) and purchase order (PO) transactions is necessary for success.

  • Strong analytical skills are needed to conduct detailed costing analyses across multiple suppliers and categories.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills enable effective collaboration with both internal stakeholders and external partners.

  • Experience managing supplier qualification processes-including onboarding new vendors-is highly desirable.

  • Familiarity with Ariba procurement software would be advantageous but not mandatory.

  • Ability to collect supplier KPIs from various functions within the organisation and report on performance metrics is important.

  • A track record of supporting contract management activities-especially those related to sustainability or responsible sourcing-is beneficial.

  • Comfortable working collaboratively across departments such as Sales & Marketing, IT & Security, Legal, Supply Chain, Finance & Controlling.
