Governance and Finance Manager
Role Positioning and Objectives
We are looking for a talented manager with strong credentials.
They will ideally have experience in both consultancy (to gain exposure to best practices and pitfalls adopted in different companies) and industry (to understand challenges faced in internal controls and governance in practice) across a regional spectrum.
We seek an individual who is not afraid to roll up their sleeves and get involved in the details, working closely with operational management in the OpCos to provide financial insight.
Reporting directly to the Head of Finance, APAC, this person's primary role is to establish best practices in meeting financial controls and compliance objectives set by the Board, Audit & Risk Committee, and Risk Management Committee.
This role acts as a regional business partner to the APAC Divisions within Steam Thermal Solutions, supporting the OpCos in all internal controls and governance matters.
Additionally, it supports Financial Planning and Analysis for ANZ, Japan, and India.
Core Responsibilities
The job holder will lead and deliver the G3 control programme across the division, with specific responsibilities including:
Supporting OpCos throughout the internal audit cycle, from preparation to closure, including review of draft findings, action plans, and management responses.
Assisting OpCos in addressing internal audit points to achieve effective closure within agreed deadlines.
Participating in Project Zennith to ensure controls are integrated into the ERP system and identifying automation opportunities.
Reviewing OpCos to improve governance areas such as Segregation of Duties and Delegation of Authorities.
Developing and implementing structured governance routines, such as monthly reviews and peer assessments.
Creating and harmonizing internal control policies and best practices across Steam Thermal Solutions, aligned with group policies.
Ensuring trade compliance, especially regarding anti-money laundering and sanctions, through operational reviews.
Supporting ad hoc tasks like fraud investigations and process recovery projects.
Acting as the governance champion within Steam Thermal Solutions, providing support and initiatives for OpCos.
Coaching OpCo management on internal controls and governance.
Supporting APAC quarterly forecasts, annual budgets, and working capital management as a Financial Analyst.
Skills / Certifications
Degree level education
ACCA/ACA/CPA certification
Broad exposure to different organizations, ideally through consultancy, to understand best practices and pitfalls in internal controls and governance.
Internal audit experience in industry to understand practical challenges.
Strong technical knowledge of governance topics like Segregation of Duties, Delegation of Authorities, Fraud Triangle, etc., with resource materials.
Experience in business partnering within a matrix organization.
Experience in developing, deploying, and implementing internal controls and governance policies.
ERP systems review and implementation experience.
Automation experience, possibly with external software tools.
Good project management skills.
International exposure and cultural sensitivity, with willingness to travel.
Experience negotiating with internal audit teams.
Self-reliant, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal guidance.
Quick learner with strong intellectual horsepower.
Influencing and persuasion skills, capable of working effectively with internal audit.
