We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Trainee to join our Group Technology team as a Production Support Engineer.
This traineeship offers an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in ensuring the continuous availability and optimal performance of critical banking applications and systems.
You will be instrumental in monitoring system health, responding to incidents, and contributing to the stability and efficiency of our production environment.
This role is ideal for individuals with a strong interest in technology operations, a keen eye for detail, and a commitment to maintaining high-quality service in a dynamic financial services setting.
System Monitoring & Availability:
Proactively monitor banking applications, servers, and batch jobs to ensure continuous system availability and optimal performance.
Utilize monitoring tools (e.g., Grafana, Kibana) to track system health and identify potential issues.
Incident Management & Resolution:
Follow established Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for incident handling, escalation, and recovery.
Escalate critical issues to senior engineers, tracking them through to resolution.
Support post-incident reviews and contribute to root cause analysis (RCA) to prevent recurrence.
Documentation & Reporting:
Maintain and update dashboards, logs, and documentation for system health and incident management.
Contribute to improving existing SOPs based on operational experience and best practices.
Operational Support:
Provide technical support, including basic troubleshooting on Linux/Unix systems and fundamental networking concepts.
Learn and understand production changes and release management processes within the financial services environment.
Work effectively within a team, communicate clearly on technical issues, and demonstrate discipline in following processes.
Shift Work:
Be adaptable to working on a rotating shift basis, which may include nights, weekends, and public holidays, to ensure 24/7 system coverage.
Minimally ITE Certificate in Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Security, Information Systems, or a related technical field.
Strong interest in technology operations, system monitoring concepts, and IT support.
Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail, with the ability to diagnose and resolve technical issues under pressure.
Effective communication skills, capable of clearly articulating technical information to team members and other stakeholders.
A team player with a disciplined approach to following processes and a positive work attitude.
Ability to learn quickly and adapt to new technologies and dynamic production environments.
Willingness and adaptability to perform shift work, including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
