Our client is seeking a dynamic and strategic specialist to oversee its Air Freight Pricing function across the Asia-Pacific region.
This role is responsible for defining and implementing regional pricing strategies, supporting tender and RFQ responses, and ensuring competitive, customer-focused solutions.
The position requires strong collaboration with procurement, operations, trade-lane, and business development teams to enhance profitability and market positioning across the region.
The Challenges
Drive Business Growth and Market Development
- Analyze market potential, industry trends, and customer needs to identify new business opportunities within the air freight segment.
- Collaborate with sales and business development teams to design, promote, and deliver competitive air freight solutions that increase bid success rates.
- Support country-level teams in developing and implementing hub concepts that align with regional strategic goals.
- Participate in regional trade-lane and business development meetings to ensure alignment and consistency of market approaches.
- Review monthly sales pipelines, engage in key client meetings, and represent air freight capabilities to strengthen customer relationships.
- Provide regular market intelligence and insights to stakeholders on pricing dynamics, competitor activities, and emerging commercial opportunities.
Coordinate Pricing and Tender Management
- Partner with procurement teams to enhance visibility and utilization of capacity agreements and rate structures.
- Coordinate and manage tender submissions, ensuring accurate, strategic, and timely delivery of pricing proposals.
- Validate transport costs, production concepts, and rate calculations for local and international bids.
- Collaborate closely with tender management teams to ensure that all proposals reflect achievable, cost-effective, and customer-focused solutions.
- Represent the organization in RFQ discussions, ensuring alignment between commercial, financial, and operational priorities.
Optimize Carrier Management and Freight Planning
- Work with procurement and operations teams to build effective carrier strategies that strengthen capacity utilization and service reliability.
- Support freight planning initiatives to achieve optimal consolidation, efficiency, and rate performance.
- Ensure full alignment between customer requirements, carrier partnerships, and internal operational capabilities.
Monitor Market Trends and Performance
- Stay abreast of industry changes, market conditions, and customer expectations to anticipate shifts and maintain competitiveness.
- Share actionable market insights and intelligence with country teams to inform pricing decisions and enhance responsiveness.
- Participate in joint customer visits to strengthen relationships and advocate solution-based, value-driven offerings.
- Review respective business units request for proposals and work with internal stakeholders to prepare a competitive, high-quality proposal in response to cross-product (Freight/Contract Logistics) RFQs/RFIs/RFPs received in close cooperating with other Tender Management Teams, Bid Owner, Product and support functions
- Develop competitive proposals within the required time parameters and follow through with tender management guidelines
- Design the tendered business volumes and GP in alignment with business strategy
- Support the design/pricing of the business solutions and technical proposal management, while developing competitive proposals for assigned RFI/RFP/RFQ's
- Maintain tender data profiling and records on required platforms (TM Analytics, SharePoint, etc.) while leading post-bid analysis performed by bid owner and sharing insights with related stakeholders
- Improve effectiveness and efficiency of the tender management organization to reduce costs, increase productivity by identifying and addressing opportunities to continuously improve bid win ratio
What It Takes
- Bachelors degree in Business, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, or related discipline.
- Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in air freight forwarding operations.
- At least 5 years of proven experience in tender management or pricing leadership roles.
Prior experience within an international freight forwarding environment is highly preferred.
