Overview
MSCI is seeking an Executive Director to join the APAC management team as Head of Sustainability & Climate Solutions Coverage.
In this role, you will lead the coverage function for MSCI’s Sustainability and Climate Solutions across the APAC region.
You will be responsible for driving the commercial success of MSCI’s sustainability and climate product suite, working in close partnership with Country Heads, local Sales Leads, Product Management, Sustainability & Climate Research, and Client Services.
Your mandate will be to expand revenue share, deepen client adoption of our Sustainability and Climate solutions, and ensure strong client retention across diverse markets within APAC.
Responsibilities
- Drive commercial outcomes: Lead the growth of Sustainability & Climate Solutions revenue across the APAC region by expanding adoption among institutional investors, asset managers, banks, insurers, and corporates.
- Partner for success: Work closely with APAC Country Heads, local Sales Leads, Product Management, Sustainability & Climate Research and Client Service teams to shape regional coverage priorities.
- Deliver client impact: Lead high-value client engagements, demonstrating how MSCI’s Sustainability & Climate methodologies and data sets — from ESG Ratings to climate scenario analysis and nature/biodiversity metrics — drive client value.
- Market & regulatory leadership: Leverage MSCI’s methodologies and research to position the firm as a trusted partner on APAC-specific sustainability and climate challenges, including evolving frameworks such as SFDR, CSRD, TCFD/ISSB, and regional taxonomies.
- Retention & expansion: Ensure high levels of client satisfaction and renewal, while driving cross-sell of Sustainability and Climate solutions across MSCI’s analytics, indexes, and private asset offerings.
- Forecasting & insights: Own accurate forecasting for the APAC Sustainability & Climate business; monitor regional market trends, regulatory developments, and competitive dynamics to inform commercial and product strategies.
- Team leadership: Build, mentor, and lead a high-performing APAC coverage team, empowering them with training, tools, and research insights to deliver sustained client impact.
Skills and Experience
- Deep understanding of APAC financial markets and the sustainability & climate investing landscape across diverse economies.
- Proven track record in sales and commercial leadership, ideally within sustainability, climate, or sustainable finance solutions.
- Strong experience managing high-value institutional client relationships and delivering large, complex commercial outcomes.
- In-depth knowledge of MSCI Sustainability and Climate methodologies and products — including ESG Ratings, Climate VaR, Implied Temperature Rise, Physical and Transition Risk models, Sustainable Finance solutions, and ESG & Climate Indexes.
- Strong grasp of regional regulatory frameworks (e.g. EU SFDR, CSRD, TCFD, ISSB, ASEAN Taxonomy, Hong Kong SFC, Japan FSA, Australian Prudential Regulation Authority climate guidance).
- Ability to articulate complex sustainability and climate concepts across local and global stakeholders, providing thought leadership in APAC markets.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing teams in a global financial services or data-driven solutions environment.
