Job Description
About the Role:Folding a flat sheet of paper into a functional surface or structure has been an intriguing design problem.
When working with engineering materials, we consider material thickness during the folding process to achieve specific engineering needs, such as deployable space antennas, solar panels, and origami robots.
With advancements in additive manufacturing—particularly 4D printing, which utilises actuating shape-memory polymeric/metallic materials that respond to external stimuli—the origami and kirigami-inspired designs can be printed and actuated to their functional state afterwards.
We are seeking a motivated and innovative intern to contribute to the cutting-edge research and development in 4D printing of origami-inspired deployable structures.
This role focuses on combining advanced additive manufacturing techniques and mechanism-based design principles to create self-transforming structures that can change shape in response to external stimuli.
