Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and customer-focused Desktop Support Engineer to provide technical assistance and support related to computer systems, hardware, and software.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IT systems, excellent problem-solving skills, and a proactive approach to troubleshooting and resolving issues.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide first-level support for hardware and software issues on desktops, laptops, and mobile devices.
- Install, configure, and maintain operating systems (Windows/macOS/Linux) and business applications.
- Troubleshoot system and network problems, diagnosing and solving hardware/software faults.
- Set up and support printers, scanners, and other peripheral devices.
- Maintain and update asset inventory for IT equipment.
- Assist users with account setup, password resets, and software installations.
- Support video conferencing tools and meeting room technology.
- Collaborate with other IT team members to resolve complex issues and escalate when necessary.
- Ensure security and privacy of networks and computer systems.
- Provide excellent customer service and training to end-users.
- Document technical issues and solutions in the ticketing system.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience).
- 1–3 years of experience in desktop support or IT helpdesk role.
- Proficiency in Windows and Mac operating systems.
- Solid understanding of networking basics (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP).
- Familiarity with Active Directory, Office 365, and remote support tools.
- Strong problem-solving and multitasking skills.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
- IT certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft MCSA, or ITIL Foundation.
- Experience with ticketing systems like ServiceNow, JIRA, or Freshdesk.
- Knowledge of virtualization tools (VMware, Hyper-V) is a plus.
Working Conditions:
- On-site role (with occasional remote support, if required).
- May require after-hours or weekend support during emergencies or scheduled maintenance.
- Ability to lift and move equipment as needed.
