Job Title: Construction Cost Manager
The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the financial aspects of construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- To source quotations, compare prices and prepare a detailed cost summary.
- To prepare project costings, ensuring accuracy and completeness.
- To prepare documents for tenders and contracts, following established procedures.
- To work closely with the project team on variation works, progress claims and cost control, ensuring timely completion.
- To liaise with main contractors, subcontractors, clients and suppliers/vendors regarding project cost issues, providing effective solutions.
- To oversee document control, ensuring all relevant documents are up to date and easily accessible.
- To be responsible for all QS reporting, providing regular updates to stakeholders.
- To manage risks and calculate them, identifying potential areas of concern.
- To analyse tenders and agree on contract sums, ensuring best value for the company.
- To effectively manage internal budget controls, advising on cost limits and budgets.
- To negotiate contracts effectively, securing favourable terms.
- To assess contractor's claims and provide advice on contractual disputes, resolving issues efficiently.
- To conduct cost analyses for construction works, identifying areas for improvement.
Requirements:
- A degree in Quantity Surveying or Engineering is essential.
- Minimum 2 years of working experience in a similar role is required.
- Required skills include quantity take-off, cost control, progress claim, contract administration, AutoCAD.
- Proficiency in MS Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) is necessary.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills are essential for success in this role.
- The ability to work independently, with minimal supervision.
