What The Role Is
You play an important role in supporting the implementation, readiness, and operations of ransomware-resilient recovery solutions.
The job involves technical assessment, implementation and verification of recovery configurations, as well as preparing AORs, and providing technical expertise to ensure backup and recovery capabilities are resilient, tested, and operationalised effectively across systems.
What You Will Be Working On
Evaluate and Support Implementation of Ransomware-Resilient Recovery Solutions
Evaluate and review submitted recovery architecture and solution designs to ensure they meet ransomware recovery principles and operational requirements
Formulate AOR for ransomware-resilient recovery solutions, including justification of recovery needs, solution design specifications, cost components, and alignment to RTO/RPO targets
Validate implementation deliverables including backup configuration, immutable storage, isolated recovery environment (IRE) setup, and recovery workflow execution
Support recovery-related deployment activities such as scripting, configuration, and restoration verification across system tiers
Engage with system owners to ensure recovery design accounts for system-specific needs
Establish Recovery Operations and Readiness
Develop and maintain SOPs, runbooks, and test procedures to guide backup and recovery activities, together with vendor and operations teams
Execute recovery drills and test restores to verify recovery point availability and restoration timelines
Log and track test results; identify and contribute to the resolution of recovery readiness gaps and improvement
Perform backup validation tasks to ensure recoverability of data on an ongoing basis
Update documentation and readiness processes based on test outcomes and lessons learned
Provide Technical Expertise for Ransomware-Resilient Recovery Solutions and Ops Systems Engineering Undertakings
Provide technical support and input for post-deployment recovery operations, including restore validation, incident response, and platform-specific recovery issues
Apply ransomware-resilient recovery solution knowledge to enforce backup retention and restore validation policies
Contribute to the development and upkeep of governance artefacts, such as checklists, templates, and technical standards, to support O&S gatekeeping of AORs and operational transitions
Render technical expertise to Ops Systems Engineering’s involvement in flagship programmes
Participate in Ops Systems Engineering’s gatekeeping activities by reviewing AOR for backup/recovery integration and ensuring governance requirements are fulfilled
Manage any other tasks as assigned by the supervisor
What We Are Looking For
Tertiary qualification in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering or equivalent
Five (5) years of hands-on experience in IT systems engineering or operations, with at least 2 years in backup, restoration, or recovery-related work
Exposure to ransomware recovery planning, immutable storage, and/or isolated recovery environments (IRE)
Familiarity with preparing or reviewing technical specifications, SOPs, or requirements documents for system recovery
Involvement in executing or supporting system recovery drills, test restores, or post-failure investigations is desirable
Coursework or relevant industry certifications related to disaster recovery, business continuity, or IT service management (e.g., VMware VCP, ITIL Foundation) have an added advantage

All new appointees will be appointed on a two-year contract in the first instance.
