Job description

Singapore Business Federation (SBF) is the apex business chamber with over 32,000 members across diverse industries.

With a vision to advance Singapore towards a globally competitive and sustainable economy, SBF mobilises the business community to be future-ready and magnify transformation opportunities through policy advocacy, partnership platforms and capability programmes

Reporting to the Senior Director of Northeast Asia Department under the International Business Division, you will oversee, manage and organise programs and business activities with all relevant stakeholders to achieve SBF's mission and vision, as well as the divisional objectives, which include:

  • Strengthen SBF's ties with relevant government agencies, various business associations and international organizations, especially in China and North Asia markets.

  • Cover the assigned markets, particularly Korea and Japan and oversee the end-to-end process of identifying companies, business development, project facilitation, deal origination and stakeholders' management.

  • Organise business activities such as business missions for Singapore businesses and facilitate formation of Singapore companies' participation in international trade fairs.

  • Assist to develop and manage divisional annual workplan and budget, create engagement strategies for projects.

  • Create awareness and interest for business opportunities in Northeast Asia region.

  • Provide market research, strategic report preparation, market analysis and intelligence input on the assigned market(s) or region.

  • Facilitate business advisory and business matching services to Singapore businesses.

Job Responsibilities

  • Maintain and enhance working relationships with local and foreign partners, including government bodies, business chambers / associations, Singapore and foreign companies.

  • Manage projects, events, and seminars / webinars to promote and develop trade and investments, including facilitating deals and projects for member companies for the Northeast Asia region.

  • Facilitate bilateral lateral business committee meetings, preparation of admin programme, meeting reports, presentation materials, etc.

  • Assist in facilitating key initiatives, including key national level projects, such as China-ASEAN Expo, and China International Import Expo.

  • Assist and contribute to partnership building for SBF's key initiatives.

  • Work with internal and external key stakeholders for new partnerships.

  • Work with key stakeholders and facilitate business matching services for Singapore companies.

  • Drive market programmes and activities through omni-channel marketing and coordination with all relevant parties.

  • Identify business trends and opportunities in Northeast Asia markets and generate business opportunities for Singapore companies.

  • Conduct research work into different markets and industries

Job Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years of working experience in marketing/ business development, business advisory, corporate secretaries, event planning and execution.

  • Good understanding of the needs of Singapore businesses in their internationalisation journeys and able to offer advisory services.

  • Experience working with government agencies, consultancy or NGOs is preferred.

  • Strong business acumen, and a good understanding of local and international business environments, and how economic and political trends impact business.

  • Relevant working experience in relevant countries (such Japan and Korea) would be an added advantage.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Self-motivated and positive attitude, excellent work ethic and a team player
  • Proficiency in English, both written and spoken.

  • Effectively bilingual for business correspondence from English to a Northeast Asian language (Japanese and/or Korean) would be an added advantage.

  • Willing to travel.
