Legal Counsel (min 6 PQE), Banking Disputes & Litigation – Regional Bank

Role Overview
We are seeking a highly capable Legal Counsel with a minimum of 6 years’ post-qualification experience to join the bank’s Singapore office.
The successful candidate will play a key role in managing contentious banking and commercial matters, working closely with internal stakeholders and external counsel.
Key Responsibilities
- Advise on and manage a range of banking disputes, litigation, and contentious regulatory matters across the region.
- Provide pragmatic legal advice to business and functional units on contentious issues, potential exposures, and risk mitigation strategies.
- Liaise with external counsel, oversee case management, and ensure cost-effective resolution of disputes.
- Support internal investigations and regulatory inquiries.
- Collaborate closely with the wider legal team to ensure consistent application of legal and compliance standards across the bank’s operations.
Requirements
- Minimum 6 PQE, qualified in a common law jurisdiction.
- Strong experience in banking disputes and litigation, ideally gained in a leading law firm and/or financial institution.
- Familiarity with banking and financial services laws and regulations in Singapore and across the region.
- Prior exposure to the retail and/or wealth banking sector will be highly regarded.
- Proven ability to manage contentious matters independently and in collaboration with senior stakeholders.
- Excellent analytical, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
