Our client is a leading corporation in the energy market with global presence.
They are actively recruiting for a Logistics Operator with strong operations experience in dry bulk commodities.
The role is based in Singapore and offers a unique opportunity to work with a dynamic team.
Responsibilities
- Identify and address deviations from contractual obligations, including managing negotiations and settlements of claims such as laytime.
- Provide accurate and timely position updates to trading desks.
- Support the review, negotiation, and optimisation of physical supply contracts.
- Assist with freight arrangements for chartering operations and oversee shipment execution.
- Manage physical operations efficiently, taking proactive measures to mitigate potential issues.
- Oversee in-port activities, including inspections, agency appointments, and shipment documentation.
- Act as the primary point of contact for suppliers, receivers, mines, power plants, steel mills, ports, brokers, agents, and vessels, escalating issues to traders when necessary.
- Handle operational administrative functions, ensuring system entries across Singapore and regional offices are accurate and aligned with expected P&L outcomes.
- Ensure timely task completion, information flow to internal teams for reporting/settlement, and resolution of contractual and deal-related issues.
- Collaborate with internal functions (Back Office, Risk Control, Trade Finance, Business Engineering, Legal & Compliance) on process and business development.
- Provide support to regional offices in managing contracts, system tasks, hedges, and other requirements.
- Deliver logistical information and support to traders, including for new product research.
- Provide backup support for logistics personnel across Asia Pacific.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field.
- Possess at least 3 to 4 years of experience in trading or logistics, ideally in grains, metals, coal, iron ore, or other dry bulk commodities.
- Experience handling or supporting physical shipments under trade finance structures (e.g., letters of credit) is advantageous.
- Demonstrated ability in work optimisation and managing contractual risks.
- Strong numeracy skills and prior experience in analytical or quantitative roles.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
- Excellent interpersonal skills with cultural awareness across Asian markets.
