Job Description

The Electrical Engineer will be an essential part of our marine vessel operations, ensuring all electrical systems and equipment function safely and efficiently.

This role involves the installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical systems on various vessels.

The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in electrical engineering, marine systems, and regulatory standards, while prioritizing safety and efficiency.

Job Accountability

  • Design and Installation:
  • Oversee the design, installation, and commissioning of electrical systems on board marine vessels.

  • Ensure electrical systems comply with international maritime regulations, including SOLAS, IEC, and other relevant standards.

  • Maintenance and Troubleshooting:
  • Perform routine inspections, testing, and maintenance of electrical systems, including generators, transformers, motors, and control circuits.

  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical issues related to propulsion systems, navigation systems, and onboard power distribution systems.

  • System Upgrades:
  • Work on upgrades and modernizations of electrical systems to improve performance and energy efficiency.

  • Conduct feasibility studies for electrical system enhancements, focusing on cost efficiency and reliability.

  • Collaboration:
  • Work closely with other engineering disciplines, such as mechanical and HVAC engineers, to ensure integrated system functionality.

  • Coordinate with vessel operators and other marine personnel to ensure systems are functioning optimally.

  • Safety & Compliance:
  • Ensure all electrical works meet safety standards and regulatory requirements.

  • Monitor compliance with the company's health, safety, environmental, and quality (HSEQ) procedures.

  • Document all electrical systems, maintenance work, inspections, and repairs.

  • Troubleshooting and Emergency Support:
  • Be available for emergency electrical repairs and troubleshooting, both at sea and in port, as needed.

  • Training and Mentorship:
  • Provide technical training and support to junior engineers and marine crew members on electrical system operations and safety practices.

Educational/Skills Qualification

Education

· Bachelor's degree / diploma in electrical engineering or a related field.

Experience:

· At least 2-3 years of experience in marine electrical engineering,

· Strong knowledge of electrical design, troubleshooting, and maintenance for marine vessels.

Skills:

· Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.

· Excellent understanding of electrical components, systems, and controls specific to marine environments.

· Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.

· Ability to work under pressure and in diverse working environments (at sea, onshore).

· Good organizational and project management skills.

Certifications:

· STCW certification (Standards of Training, Certification, and Watchkeeping for Seafarers).

· Additional certifications in electrical engineering or marine engineering (preferred).

Job Types: Full-time, Permanent

Pay: $3, $3,800.00 per month
