Job Description
PURPOSE OF THE JOB
The Mechanical/Thermal/Process Engineer will support diverse power and energy consulting projects throughout the Asia region.
Further responsibilities would also include assisting in business development and proposal preparation, collaborating with WSP's regional and international experts as needed.
MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES
As a Mechanical Engineer within the Power and Energy Team, your responsibilities will include:
Supporting Clients during project feasibility studies, appraisals, procurement evaluations, contractor/vendor design reviews, engineering processes, construction, commissioning, and performance testing, and when required, presenting to clients.
Contributing to preparing design specifications and provide technical advice to clients on various aspects of power plant development, including configuration options, performance evaluation, prime equipment selection, Balance of Plant (BoP) systems and components, reliability and availability analysis, enabling infrastructure, and considerations for project implementation.
Assisting managing the technical delivery requirements of projects and project execution to ensure they meet established standards and client expectations.
Assisting in Business Development and Proposal Preparation, collaborating when required with WSP's regional and international experts as required.
Conducting market analysis, identifying opportunities, and helping to building business cases for new projects and services.
Job Requirements
QUALIFICATIONS
Master/Bachelor of Engineering degree in Mechanical/Chemical engineering.
3 to 10 years of experience as a mechanical/process engineer in the power and energy sector, ideally developed within a plant/system design role or professional services/consulting environment.
Familiar with gas turbines, CC & CHP power plants, or waste-to-energy plants, including key technologies & components and project lifecycle considerations.
Experience of working with public and private sector clients in the Asia region.
Experience in managing and developing client relationships, driving sales, and achieving business growth in engineering consulting or a similar technical industry.
The following are desired:
An additional business qualification (e.g., MBA) would be advantageous.
Knowledge of, or the ambition to learn and develop, expertise in process systems for generation of biofuels and power plant waste cleaning systems such as flue gas and wastewater treatment.
Familiarity with any design software such as Thermoflow' GTPro, Steam Pro, CFD, PVsys, WAsP, etc., would be advantageous.
Proficiency in MS Office.
Experience with project management methodologies and project planning software tools such as, Primavera and MS Project.
Ability to collaborate and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
