Join our expanding Day Surgery Centre as an Operating Theatre Technician , where you will play a crucial role in ensuring the optimal functioning of surgical equipment, supporting the surgical team, and maintaining a safe, sterile environment for our patients.
Key Responsibilities
- Respond promptly to the surgical team's requests and work collaboratively to provide quality patient care in the operating theatre.
- Assist in preparing the operating theatre and surgical team for daily procedures.
- Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot operating theatre equipment, providing timely solutions to any malfunctions.
- Implement and monitor strict infection control practices to minimize healthcare-associated infections.
- Maintain cleanliness of the operating theatre and adjacent areas, including proper disposal of surgical waste, soiled linen, and suction contents.
- Perform routine safety checks on operating tables, lights, suction devices, and other theatre equipment.
- Clean and disinfect operating rooms, instruments, and equipment in accordance with established protocols.
- Assist surgeons intraoperatively by adjusting lighting, applying tourniquets, and providing other necessary support.
- Prepare the operating theatre in readiness for each scheduled surgical procedure.
- Safely assist with transferring patients between wards, trolleys, and operating tables.
- Communicate effectively with the surgical team to ensure smooth workflow and patient safety.
- Perform any other duties as assigned by Management.
Requirements
Essential
- Minimum GCE 'O' Level qualification.
- Proactive, responsible, and willing to learn.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Physically able to lift heavy objects and assist in patient transfers safely.
- Willingness to work shifts, including alternate Saturdays and overtime when required.
Preferred
- Certificate in Healthcare (Operating Theatres) or related qualification.
- Prior experience working in an Operating Theatre or similar healthcare environment.
